Active Rain, Mexican Food and M & M’s in New Braunfels, TX

By

Today is a gray, cold, rainy, and very windy day in South Central Texas; but, I woke up ready and excited for my day to start.  First, I had to stop by the office and then take the 30 minute drive up to New Braunfels, TX.  I had an appointment scheduled with some former clients to discuss listing the house I sold them 3 years ago.  Employer has asked them to relocate - they love their house and New Braunfels and will miss both but must move forward with their lives.  That's not the reason I was excited for my day to start.

The reason, another Active Rain Meeting!  I had mentioned to Carl & Ceil Winters that I would be in New Braunfels, TX  for appointment this morning.  Well, Ceil quickly checked Carl's schedule and he was already committed to do an Inspection.  But, she had to be in New Braunfels to run some errands and suggested we meet for lunch!  We decided to go to Mamacita's Mexican Restaurant on IH-35.

My appointment was a little long but I called Ceil as soon as I was back in my car and on my way.  She was already at the shopping center and said she'd be at the restaurant waiting for me.  Of course, I got behind every slow car and caught every stop light between my client's house and the restaurant and then missed the turn and had to make a "U" turn and come back.

I walked into the restaurant and there she was - sitting on a bench waiting for me!!!  We recognized each other immediately, hugged and began to talk as they escorted us to our table.  Orders for drinks (coke & iced tea) and food (enchiladas) were given and we continued to talk -- about Active Rain, Real Estate, Inspections, etc., etc.  We had a great waiter - he was very patient with us - I think he came to our table 3 times to take our lunch order  J

When he brought the ticket, we realized it was time to leave.  We asked the waiter to take our pictures with each of our cameras - which he graciously did.  Then, Ceil reached over and handed me a gift bag she said Carl had sent me!  See the contents in the picture.

Note pads, business cards, a booklet on Home Maintenance and a small spiral notebook are all logical choices to include in a gift bag - but M & M's.  Yes, the M & M's had to be included!  You see I'm the M & M Queen of Active Rain.  Ok, ok, read here - you'll understand and get a good laugh!!!

Hey Yolanda - I'm out of the gift basket business, too much work. Easier to put in a little store bought bag unless I can convince Ceil to start making gift baskets. I sure wish I had some good enchiladas from Mamacitas's, I'm hungary, been trimming trees today.

Don't forget to spring forward tonite before you go to bed.

Judi - Don't tell Ceil but the bread pudding wasn't as good as usual, she was out of guava paste and substitued something else. Guess we will have to go to New Orleans to get some more guava paste; she says she can not find it anywhere else.

Thanks for the vote for TEX for the longhorn's mascot name.

Hey Liz, nope wasn't Marchel -- it was the one, the only -- my favorite Inspector -- Carl Winters!!!   LOL

Liz, I've really wanted to get out and take those pictures but it's really been busy!!  Have clients this weekend and appointments all week too.  Maybe early next week -- I need to get to downtown San Antonio to take the pics I want.

Carl,  don't worry I won't tell Ceil -- hmmm, guava paste in her bread pudding???  I don't put guava paste in my bread pudding.  I can see I'm going to have to share my bread pudding recipe here.  Be watching for it.

Ricki,  we did have a nice lunch -- the weather was terrible that day.  But we didn't seem to mind.  I think they even had a warm fire in the fireplace at the restaurant.  I'm definitely looking forward to more AR Gatherings, M & M's (always) and yummmy Bread Pudding!   :)))

Debbie, nice of you to stop by.  Ceil & I had a wonderful visit.  The time flew by!   Debbie, we might get to meet one day!!!   I hope so!!   :)   Wish I had met you when I lived in Lynchburg.

I used to live in Kerrville and definitely miss the Mamacita's tortillas and "green stuff".  Great memories!

Hi Tricia,  thanks for stopping by.  Yeah, the "green stuff" at Mamacitas is good!!!   The salsa could have been hotter though!  :)    We enjoyed our lunch and visit.  I love meeting my Active Rain friends!  We had a great visit.

I'm going back up to New Braunfels on Friday to get all of the Listing paperwork signed, the sign up, the lockbox on the door and take pictures.  Hmmm, I wonder what Ceil and Carl are doing on Friday???  Maybe Gruene, TX on Friday???

Judi- How nice!  I remember Mamacita's and sure do miss that place.

What I want to know is how I managed to miss that voting?!  Clearly, the Queen has a following - add me to the court. ;)

Jackie, that was the first time I'd ever been to Mamacita's.  There's one down here in San Antonio too but I have my favorite Mexican food restaurants so haven't tried that one.  It was good though.

The voting!?!  Oh My -- for Queen of M & M's!!!  ROFL   Carl Winters was/is the instigator of that one!!!   You want to be one of the Duchesses of M & M's???

That is so great!  I love meeting the people behind the blogs.  I have yet to actually meet others outside of my city yet.  But I feel like I already know so many even though we have never actually met yet!

Naoma,  Thanks for stopping by to meet me and Ceil.  It's so nice to meet other Active Rain Members in person -- there are no awkward moments because we already know each other and there's always plenty to talk about -- business and personal.

This is Carl checking in...that comment Ms. Judi just made above "always plenty to talk about", ya right, I heard Ceil and Judi on the telephone the other night and it was suppose to be Judi teaching Ceil how to do links and the conversation went on and on and it ended up Judi did the links for us. Boy can these women talk and not get anything accomplished. (now I know I'm in the dog house with Ceil & Judi)?

Hi Judy,

Mary Kay and I are already planning for your next visit to Lake Charles.  I think we may be more excited than your family.  You have been so very gracious and helpful to someone just starting the blogging process and I appreciate that very much.

I really like your site.  Since I spent considerable funds putting my daughter through Texas A&M, I have a very warm (maybe that is not an accurate discription of the emotion when spending that amount of money) for Texas.  Just teasing.  We enjoyed those years tremendously.

I look forward to meeting you.  Thank you again for all of your wonderful encouraging words.

Hi Derenda,  Thanks for stopping by.

I'm looking forward to our next trip to Lake Charles and meeting you and Mary Kay.  I told my husband I made 2 new friends in Lake Charles -- he said, he thought I already knew everyone there!  hahahaha  Not nearly everybody.

One of my daughter's is a Texam A & M graduate too -- Class of Dec., 2004!  So, we have something else in common.

We're working on scheduling the trip to Lake Charles -- may have to schedule around closings.  Would like to schedule closings before we leave so I won't be trying to take care of closing details during the trip.  And need to check with my Aunt & Uncle to make sure the weekend we're thinking of is good for them.

Will let y'all know as soon as all the details are finalized.
