The boardwalk takes you along the Charlottetown waterfront overlooking the harbour entrance and the meeting point of the North, West, and Hillsborough Rivers.

Highlights

The boardwalk in Victoria Park was completed in 1994 and is one of the most successful leisure recreation stories in the City of Charlottetown. The boardwalk is part of a walking trail that travels from Confederation Landing Park along the waterfront to the Victoria Park lighthouse. This walking trail is open year round for thousands of Charlottetown residents and visitors and is part of the city's larger Routes for Nature and Health trail system that also connects with the Confederation Trail. The boardwalk is lit to allow people to enjoy evening walks.

Historic and Cultural Significance

There are sites of historic and cultural significance to be seen along the boardwalk including the battery Fort Edward, Celtic Monument and Beaconsfield Historic House. The historic battery, Fort Edward, includes the cannons and powder house. The battery was moved to Victoria Park in 1805. The Celtic Monument is dedicated to the Irish descendents from the 32 counties in Ireland who settled in Prince Edward Island in the 19th Century.  Beaconsfield Historic House is an enduring symbol of Victorian elegance.

Distances
There are 1.3 km of boardwalk in Victoria Park from the Victoria Park Pool to Beaconsfield; the boardwalk continues at the end of Sydney Street and extends 0.4 km behind the Culinary Institute, passing the Celtic Memorial and the Charlottetown Armories; and then extends behind the Delta Hotel, around Peakes Quay and around Confederation Landing Park for 0.53 kilometers.
