HOW FAR WILL YOU GO ??? TRAVEL TO DO A PRESENTATION..THAT IS !!!

By
Home Stager with HOME STYLE AND STAGING LLC

I send out e-mails every quarter to Realtors and this past week I got a response from Realtor that is about 70 miles from my home town. The e-mail was asking for Partnerships..Believe it or not a get great feed back from these. Anyway, back to the question. They are about 70 miles from here, and yes I am going to go to their office EARLY ( leaving the house at the crack of dawn ) one morning next week and do a presentation for their weekly sales force. They have, I am told, around 12 agents, that will be there. I am planning on taking breakfast ( I want to know what you do ). How far will you go to do a presentation ?

My Partnership is that I will accompany the Realtor when they take the photos for the web-site where they will show the photos of the home. I will be the one that gently tells the homeowners that all the photos of nice Aunt Betty will just have to go for now.

I have gotten some great Partnerships this way.

Now this had a alot of Aunt Betty photos !!!

Mary Lou- This "Partnership" idea sounds wonderful! And, since it's not "partnership within a thirty mile radius" I guess you need to go where they want you! ;) I have traveled a long way since becoming a stager, and never turned one down because of the distance! Yeah, that room needs help, but I can spot some real treasures among all that tr***!

I woon't go that far unless it's for a friend.  I try and stay within a 30 mile radius.  Gas is outrageous.  The partnership things sounds like a great idea though.  Let us know how it turns out!

I have driven 714 miles!  Really!!  I have a sister who is an agent in OK, and occasionally I help her with some projects.  My fee:  lunch.

For in-state projects, I drive where ever the job is - I charge accordingly.

I guess if you charge for your time, and you have the time to do it-why not?  Houston's so spread out that a 100 mile round trip can be expected.

As Cindy stated as long as you are charged for your time.  I travel up to 45 minutes away as that is the nature of where I live (lot's of traffic).  I could see where driving 70 miles away would get old if you are not getting paid or if these meetings do not result in jobs.  Sounds like a great idea so please let us know who it turns out.

Barbara: I know exactly what you mean. I try to pre-qualify the agents if they are miles away, and in this case I think that it is worth the time...I will keep everyone posted on how it goes..Thanks for stopping by

If the partenership seems worth your time and effort and will get you enough work to make it worth your while go for it.  My location requires travel as I am in between the two cities I mainly do my business in Tulsa and Oklahoma City.  I travel 50 miles to get to either.  With the price of gas I definately make sure the trip is worthwhile.  Keep us posted on this and how you do!

One option I have been considering is adding a trip charge for the surrounding cities that are about 30 miles or more out.  It doesn't seem fair to me to charge my full hourly fee for travel, since I can make other business calls, etc while driving (I know, put away the cell phone!) so I feel like a "trip charge" of about $25-$35 is fair to help make up for the extra time and gas expenses.
