Another new steel mill near Dyersburg,Tn 38024

A few months ago, I wrote an article discussing the possibility of Tiptonville,Tn landing a new steel mill. Tiptonville is located about 18 miles north of Dyersburg,Tn. The Cates Landing site was one of four different locations being considered for this new steel mill.

Unfortunately for Tiptonville, their site was not selected. The new steel mill will be built near Blytheville,Arkansas. Blytheville is about 45 miles west of Dyersburg(across the Mississippi River). There are several steel mills and related industries already in operation in that area. Many of the workers there choose to live in Dyersburg or just outside Dyersburg. This new steel mill(owned by Warren Fabricating and machining Corporation) is projected to employ up to 1000 people.

More good jobs will be available to our Dyersburg residents(many now work across the river) . Also, many more people will relocate to our area for these new jobs. The Dyersburg real estate market will continue to do well for years to come! To read an excellent article written in the Union City Daily Messenger about this new steel mill please click here

I was really disappointed that Tiptonville did not get the steel mill because it would sure help their economy. The only factory that they had was HIS which closed several years ago. The Mayor really had high hopes that they were getting the steel mill. I do thing that the Riverport that is being built will boost economy for them. They are near the Reelfoot Lake which attracts alot of eagle watchers, fishermen, duck, turkey and deer hunters. I see more positives than negatives for northwest Tennessee.
