Howard Museum.  The Victor Talking Machine Company was an American Corporation and the leading producer of phonographs and phonograph records in the world. Saturday, March 15, at 2 PM. "The Mercury 7: America's First Astronauts" is a special Burbank READS learning and craft program for children in the first through third grades.  Children will learn about the beginnings of the space race, make a craft to take home, and enjoy refreshments. Tuesday, March 25, from 3-4:30 PM.  5-4-3-2-1...WRITE ON!!! Do you like to write stories or poetry? Are you always doodling? A journal is a place to do all of these things and more-it's a book all about YOU! Come join other young writers as we discover ideas to liven up our writing, and create an original masterpiece. [Journals and pens will be provided at the program.] Space is limited to 25 creative kids, so please call or come to the library to register. This Creative Journaling Workshop is for 4th through 6th graders at the Burbank Central Library.

The pleasure of you company is requested for "Love and Friendship: An Evening with Jane Austen.  Join us for a delightful visit with Miss Jane (as portrayed by actress Mary Burkin) and her brother, Henry Austen. Thursday March 27.  The Friends of the Burbank Public Library Presents Trivia Challenge 2008 at The Castaway Restaurant, 1250 Harvard Rd., Burbank. Tickets cost $15.00 in advance and $20 at the door. The proceeds benefit the Burbank Public Library Literacy Services Department who teach adults and children to read and write. The funds raised will be used for books, computers and software. The Master of Ceremonies is Jack O'Neill, COO of the Hope Family Estate. Please note: official priority numbers will be pulled from a box lottery style by registrars at 8:00am as you walk through the Joslyn Parking Lot Entrance when doors open. Immediately following, regular numbers will be handed out in numerical order until 10:15am. Registration will begin at 9:00am. You must prove your Burbank residency. Non-resident registration will be held on March 12. Trips are for April, May and June. Burbank Temporary Aid Center

BTAC is a social service agency which assists the less fortunate residents of Burbank. The agency is staffed by two full-time and three part-time employees, and over 75 volunteers! Volunteer assistance is vital to the mission of BTAC. Ongoing needs include:

>>>Intake Assistants - working a morning or afternoon shift, one week day per week, these volunteers interview clients, assess the needs and meet the needs, as necessary.

>>>Pantry Workers - Receiving donations, sorting and shelving the goods, and preparing 'pantry orders' for the clients are amoing the jobs handled by these helpers.

>>>Fundraising Committee - these vital volunteers work with the Board of Directors' Fundraising Committee to assist with developing the resources necessary to keep the agency in business. Opportunities vary.

>>>Food Drive Organizers - Groups, churches, clubs and individuals can make arrangements to collect food for BTAC at their own venue or at a local market.

On-the-job training is provided for all volunteers. Shifts are available Monday through Friday, 9:00am - 12:00pm or 1:30pm - 5:00pm.
