Habitat ReStore – Saving You Money and Helping the Community

In our recent post about the Capital Home & Garden Show, we mentioned donating items to the Habitat ReStore.  The ReStore (7770-A Richmond Highway, Alexandria) is such a great place, we thought we would tell you a little more about it.

ReStore is a resale business that sells new and gently used building materials and home improvement items to the general public.  All of the materials are donated by local retail businesses, building contractors, suppliers and individuals and are sold at prices 50-90% below retail.  The Alexandria ReStore contains 16,000 sq. ft. of items including new or almost new appliances, top-of-the line carpet and tiles, never used cabinets, windows, doors and more.  All ReStore proceeds go to Habitat of Humanity of Northern Virginia to build safe, affordable homes for families in need.

With all the great ideas you have swimming around for possible home renovations, the Habitat ReStore might be able to help you make those renovations happen without breaking the bank.  Whether you are redoing your entire kitchen or just need a new dishwasher, be sure to check out the ReStore.  If you are renovating your home and have items to donate, ReStore is more than happy to accept items for resale.  Click here to learn more about donating items or for directions and hours to the ReStore or call 703-360-6700.

Maria and Amanda,

Thank you for the comments.  I try to include information on a variety of different subjects.  Habitat is a wonderful organization that does so much.

If you hear of any other organizations that would benefit from some distribution, please let me know.
