My unique, Spring Texas birds were such a mystery!

By
Real Estate Agent with Results Realty

Recently I started getting the prettiest birds in my birdfeeder and was so excited about this.  Soon, they told all their friends and I had so many pretty birds that they were lining up and some were waiting in the tree outside my window and the bougainvillea right next to my kitchen window for their turn to eat.  I had so many birds I am now filling the bird feeder up every other day!

I told my friend Shellee up the street about my gloriously happy little birds and that I could not find out what special breed they are!  I had searched the internet and looked at most of the unique birds and didn't see my happy birds.  She listened to me explain about my new family of birbird in Spring TXds and said she had a bird on her feeder right now.  I asked her to take a photo and email it to me, which she quickly did and sure enough, it was the same as my little visitors.  My unique new friends are sparrows. We had a good laugh and I found out the birds I have are not unique, but they are awfully sweet and happy little guys.  I have also seen a couple cardinals come visit.

The Houston Arboretum & Nature Center is a good place to find out what kind of birds you do have!  Be sure to take your binoculars with you so you can take in all their beauty.

Right now they are having a nature walk to see all the different kinds of birds in our area this time of year.

Candy - We feed the birds year round and have a wonderfull colection that visit us. While they don't all partake of our feeder (some are herons, ducks and geese, a little to big for the feeder) we enjoy the songs of the Cardinals and Chickadees the most.

Your little sparrows are adorable.  This is my favorite time of the year!  The birds are coming back to move into their little houses and the air is slowly filling with chatter!

Hi Candy, we have Blue Birds nesting in our boxes now. Hopefully I can sneak a pic soon. Do you have lots of squirrels there? They love bird feeders too.

Keith & Robin - I have not seen any blue birds, only Cardinals, Sparrows & some other kinds of birds.  Yes, I have squirrels.  They do like the food and trying to eat their way into my attic any way possible.  They are cute to watch though.

Candy - The important thing is that you enjoyed your friends.  I know very few birds and usually just identify them by color or the sounds they make.  I really enjoy seeing the birds in the backyard especially after a long winter, it is an indication that the fun time of year is about to begin.

Thesa - We do have many birds in Texas!  I really enjoy looking at them.  Only thing is now my parrot is starting to tweet like the outside birds.  She wasn't sure what she was before.

Deborah -  I couldn't get a good photo of mine that day, my windows are tinted and was showing a glare.  She can always find a way to take a good photo.  My sparrows love me so much and have told all their friends!

We have lots of birds here right now.  As long as I keep water in the birdbath I always have birds even if my birdfeeders get empty.  I love watching them.

We get sparrows out here in Hockley too. The cardinals like to eat my chicken feed. I love them! We get pigeons and doves too. Occasionally we get woodpeckers. By the time I get my camera out they are gone. Maybe one day I will get a picture of one.
