Ducketts Lane Elementary School in Elkridge, MD - Howard County's newest school - is opening just in time for the 2013/2014 school year!
A ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for tomorrow August 25th, 2013 from 1 - 2 pm followed by an open house from 2 - 3 pm. The new Ducketts Lane Elementary Students and their parents are invited to visit their classrooms, meet the teachers and drop off their school supplies.
Ducketts Lane Elementary is a 2 story building, planned for a student body of 600 and a green school featuring lots of outdoor space (including a pond, playgrounds and an outdoor classroom), skylights and rows of windows and geothermal heating & cooling.
The school is located between densely populated residential neighborhoods - it literally sits across the street from the Marble Hill community. Marble Hill is a townhouse-style condominium subdivision with about 350 units built in the early '80s. Community amenities include a playground and tennis court.
