Labor Day Weekend 2013, Red Feather Lakes, Colorado

Next weekend, is Labor Day Weekend and Fire Days in Red Feather!!!

The normally quiet and peaceful Village will be transformed by Fire Truck Sirens, Fireworks, and the roar of hundreds of motorcycles:  Thunder in the Rockies Bike Rally –The 2013 Forever Family Ride, tons of people and lots of fun.  Here's the line-up  for the Labor Day Festivities:

Saturday,  August 31st ”Fire Day”

Consists of a Library Book Sale, 8:00a.m.- 4:00 p.m.

9:00-10:00 Parade  ( Dowdy & West Lake Campgrounds only)

9:00- 4:00 Arts & Crafts Show & Bake Sale

Fire Truck Rides 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

11:30- 1:00 BBQ Lunch, at the Property Owners Association Building

See the Fire Trucks old and new and the Airlink Medical Helicopter (availability permitting, the helicopter will be there 11:30a.m. to 1:00 p.m.)

3:00 Children’s games in the Lions park- all ages

At 2:00 p.m. Fire Fighter, Citizen of the Year Awards and Flag Retirement Ceremony

7:00 p.m. Bingo

 

Sunday, September 1

7:30 a.m.- 10:30 a.m.Pancake Breakfast, Mountain Lions Club at the POA

 8:00a.m.- 11:00a.m. Book Sale at the Library.

9:00a.m. -3:00p.m.  Crystal LakesArts & Crafts Show – in Crystal Lakes at the Fire Station

Dusk:   FIREWORKS!!! (weather permitting)

The Fourth of July fireworks display has been cancelled 2 years in a row.  Let’s hope we get to see those beautiful fireworks over Hiawatha Lake this year.

Thunder in the Rockies, Bike Rally– The 2013 Forever Family Ride will be coming to Red Feather Sunday- here's a post about this very worthy cause.

 Monday September 2

7:00 a.m.- 11:00 a.m.  Pancake Breakfast, Glacier Gals,

Glacier View Meeting Place, Green Mountain Dr. (Gate 8, Glacier View Meadows)

Hi Mary!  This looks like a great lineup for the Labor Day Weekend!  Your firefighters have done so much for the Red Feather Lakes area and for the state of Colorado with all those wildfires in the last year.

Hi Mary!  There are so many activities going on in RFL that I had to come back for another look-see!  If in the area I no doubt would hit the pancake breakfast and book sale for starters.  Hope you are safe and well, and may you get some rain out West to put out all those wildfires that are raging!

Library books sales are among my very favorite events.  I LOVE books and certainly don't mind buying one that has been read lots of times.  I missed our local one last spring so I'm anxious to go next year.

Hi William, I'm not sure I would want you to ride in the helicopter---because that would mean you had a medical emergency!! But you could ride on the firetrucks :-)

Hi Jennifer,it doesn't seem possible that September is here does it?  I hope you have a great Weekend, this will be the last big event until the Greening, near Christmas! Oh dear,Christmas!!LOL

 

Thank Bruce, for coming back.  There are so many fires out west, knocking on wood, none are near, yet I feel so badly for all those affected. It is such a helpless feeling! We have actually had a little rain shower nearly every afternoon, thanks to the monsoons. I would vote for the pancakes too...but I am most excited for the fireworks!

 

Hi Tammy, I love books too, I hope you can go to your sale next spring-  or you can come here this weekend, of course! :-)
