There is quite a few things going these last few days of August in Canyon, TX. Canyon is always a great place to live, play and work. So, see what you might be interested in for you and your family before the month ends.

Annual Safety Day – The Canyon Independent School District will have their annual Safety Day on Friday, August 20. Every class in the district will practice their emergency drills for fire, tornados and lockdowns. All staff and students will be participating. Let your children know about Safety Day and what they can expect.

Class of 1983 30-Year Reunion – The Canyon High’s class of 1983 will be celebrating their 30-year reunion over the Labor Day holiday weekend. If you were in that class and you plan to come, please let them know on the Canyon High School Class of 1983 Facebook page, or email chsreunion1983@gmail.com.

The reunion will be held August 30 through September 1, 2013 at the Ceta Canyon Camp and Retreat Center. The center is located at 37201 Farm-to-Market Road 1721. There will be fun for the whole family like swimming, jumping pillow, hiking, slip and slide, and fishing. Cost is $257 for family of 3, $309 for family of 4, and $309 plus meals for families with more than four.

Food preservation class – There will be a food preservation class on August 30 at 9am that will teach you how to properly and safely preserve food. The class will be held at Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Services Potter County office at 3301 E 10th Avenue.

They will cover freezing, canning, dehydrating foods and more. The workshop will be $35, which will also include a take home training notebook.
