Unique Marketing Tips: September

Renae has some good ideas about using designated days of the month to create specialized marketing events.

If you have time to put them together, you'll have fun and make an impression on potential clients. But even if you don't have time, you can still use these days in marketing.

Use them as the basis for a blog post - or simply write about them when staying in touch with your past clients and sphere of influence. Everybody likes to know some tidbit that their friends haven't heard, so letting people know about silly or interesting events will make them welcome your emails.

With that in mind, I wrote a whole set of letters that agents can use to stay "Top of mind" with those important people. The set contains 2 letters for each month of the year - so enough for two years of keeping in touch. Check them out right here.

Unique Marketing Tips: September

Here are a few ideas to help spur you into some unique marketing ideas for the month of September! If you'd like assistance in designing even more ideas or implementing a unique marketing campaign, just give me a holler!

September:

6 - Read A Book Day - Take time out of your busy life, and relax with a good book.

12 - National Video Games Day - This day celebrates popular video games that stormed onto the market, and changed the way your kids play games.

16 - Working Parents Day - Working Parents Day gives recognition to moms and dads who work hard to provide for their children.

For each holiday, you can come up with a twist to make it related to real estate in some way. Here are some suggestions for you:

booksSeptember 6 - Read A Book Day- This is the day to instill (or flame) a love of reading. Plan to spend an hour or two at a local elementary school, reading to the children. At the end of your visit, give each child a book. Inside the book, put your brochure and 2 business cards. Or you can give each child a bag to take home that includes a new book, and any other information you would like to give their parents. This is a great way to develop a new area to promote yourself - a specific school (or schools) in your area! You can become the school realtor or mortgage broker! This can be something you do monthly - just rotate classrooms. For examples of places where you can get larger quantities of books at a discount, try these websites:

September 12 - Video Games Day - Let's face it... Video games are here to stay. Instead of phasing out, they are becoming more and more popular and more and more sophisticated. My son is now going to college for a degree in gvideo gamesame design! Why not use this to your advantage? Find a local Civic Center which has a gym or large meeting room that you can rent (some places let residents use the rooms for free). Then, locate several game dealers in your area such as GameStop, EB Games, or others like them. Arrange for them to work with you on setting up a game review day. They can supply the systems and the games - you supply the place and the people. Invite your contacts (especially the buyer and seller prospects) and their families to a day of games. While the kids are playing, you can use that time to get to know the parents and give them information about how you can help them play the game of home ownership!

September 16 - Working Parents Day - This is the perfect opportunity to get into the crowd of working parents. Host a celebratory brunch or even just a smaller scale event where you provide finger foods or cookies and punch. You'll be in the perfect position to find out if these parents are interested in buying, ready to buy, or anywhere in between! A great way to do this is to partner with someone else in your industry - real estate agents can partner with mortgage lenders or stagers. It's a win-win for all parties involved and you cut the cost of the event completely in half!

The point is to get your name out there, get in front of your leads and your contacts. Make a name for yourself by doing things that others in your field aren't. Stand out from the crowd!

Donna - The idea is to give them something unusual and interesting to read - so they'll look forward to hearing from you again.

Keeping in touch with past clients and SOI is important - but if all they hear is "Remember me, I'm here!" pretty soon they'll be deleting your messages.

Marte- great reblog.  I do write some posts on special days and try to put a little more into it than just what day it is.  I got out of doing newsletters but maybe it's time to start again.

Kathy- When I had a real estate office writing the monthly newsletter was one of my favorite tasks. I guess that's part of the reason I switched from agent to copywriter :-)
