Have You Re-registered Yet For Your 2014 NYS STAR Exemption?
For all homeowners in NYS that are presently receiving a basic STAR exemption for their homes, in order to continue to receive this exemption in the 2014 calendar year and onward, you will be required to re-register.
Re-registration is not required in order to receive the 2013 STAR exemption, but on a go forwards basis a one time re-registration is mandatory in 2014.
Based on the information provided in the registration process, the tax department will then monitor and determine a homeowners continued eligibility.
The application process for seniors that receive Enhanced STAR discounts remains unchanged. They will continue to be required to re-apply on a yearly basis.
