Does owning a home benefit your children?

Since the school year is upon us, this seems like a good time to reinforce some of the added benefits of owning your home.
According to the National Association of Realtors (NAR) Field Guide to the Benefits of Home Ownership, your home is more than a roof over your head. Let me know if you would like a copy of the full guide.
Higher Academic Achievement ranks first in the 'NAR Field Guide' in part because renters move more frequently than home owners. Not moving tends to add to stability.
More Cohesive Communities takes a close second place also tying back into the premise that home owners move less often. It's also more likely a home owner will invest in repairs than a renter.
Better Connected Families is listed as third which indicates studies show homeowners are more vested in community. One statistic provided by NAR says home owners are 16% more likely to belong to parent-teacher organizations, book clubs, etc. than renters.
Improved Health & Safety comes in at fourth explaining that homeowners have a financial stake in their home and this increases the incentive to deter crime through neighborhood watches as well as other voluntary prevention programs.
Rounding up this list at number five is Stronger Economy which really hits home across the board. Home ownership creates jobs and jobs create more opportunities for home owners.
