Part Three: The Best Spot For You

Well enough about canoeing.

Let's talk about fishing.  Slam dunk, if you are a fly fisherman you are going to be interested in a spot close to one of the shoals.  There are a lot of folks up here that literally just step into the river from their property and they are on their favorite spot.

One does not have to have property on a shoal to be wading quickly.   A short boat ride is all it takes to get from deep water to skinny water and the same is true for a short ride in the car.  There is good fly fishing available at the public access points at Kennedy Park at the dam, Barnett Access at swinging bridge, Libby Access on highway 337, and the access on highway 110 at Pangburn.

It boils down to this:  If you own riverfront property with deep water you can bottom fish from your dock or go by boat to your favorite hole, or boat up river or down river to get to a wadeable area.  If your property is on skinny water you can wade right there, but you can still drive to other walk-in access areas or launch a boat at one of the public ramps and motor to your fishing spot.  Lots of options.

Most importantly-Come live it with us.

Hey Howard

I love Fly fishing and love Arkansas but have only fished the White River while in Arkansas.

My dad and I have always talked about having somewhere to escape to someday in Arkansas and I have heard that the Little Red is the best!

What does waterfront property undeveloped with good access to the property run per acre?

THanks for your time and the pictures are great--I cannot wait to take my 15 month old son--when he gets old enough on his first trip.

Justin,  Heber Springs is a great place, and the fishing is good on the river and we enjoy the lake just as much.  You could buy a 100' lot without a house on it for between $80,000 and $125,000.  That would be riverfront property.  Normally riverfront property is sold by the 100 lot and there is not much in the way of acreage available.  Email me at if you have any other questions.  I would love to hear from you.

Howard, I own a great cabin and acerage on Mossy Shoals out of Pangburn which I have decided to sell and it will go on the market soon. One lot which sets right on the river is roughly 90' x 120' and gives great access to Mossy Shoals which is one of the prmier flyfishing shoals on the Little Red.

If you are interested in looking the property (all or part) let me know and I will be pleased to show it to you.

We love it on the river but age and other considerations are telling me to sell.

Hi Howard,  we are interested in property on the Little Red. The cabin mentioned on 7/7/08 is it currently on the market? We would be interested in looking at it or other property within the price range you mentioned above.  Thanks and look forward to hearing from you.

The Fraisers,

Send me an email at and we can get started finding something for you.  Maybe a lot to get started and build on in the future, or a home on the water just waiting for you and your family.  I highly recommend it.  As a matter of fact, I get to go down on the river this afternoon to check practical access for a property owner that will have lots for sale soon.
