Water Tower - Westley Ca

Just north of the town of Patterson California is the tiny town of Westley California.  Both are located on the far West Side of Stanislaus County in Calfornia's Central Valley.   Highway 33 runs north/south through both towns.  Along higway 33 runs an old Southern Pacific rail line that is now owned by California Northern Railroad.  Standing along the rails in the town of Westley is an old water tower that was used in the days of steam engines.   I took these photos on Saturday (8/24/13).

Jim -- great pictures of the water tower.  Do you know if they still store water in it for any purpose.

Thanks Steven.  No unfortunately it has a few holes in it these days and isn't used any more.

Great photos, Jim. I grew up with train buffs, and they would love to see this in person. The sepia tone adds a nice touch.

Great photos. The sepia tone gives it an older feel even though you took them recently. Reminds me of where I grew up in Ohio.

Classic.  Nicely done with the old timey look and feel.  I can almost hear the Sergio Leone music in the background.

Jim: And those tracks look kept up. Do you still have trains going on them? Love the tower photo too.

Hella - Yes they still are used.  They haul a lot of produce from the area on those tracks.

Jim, that's an interesting historical fact and one that many of younger generations would not know.  Love the photos, you really captured the feel of an era gone by!

Thank you Silvia.  I'm just an amateur photographer trying to take a few decent photos.
