Carroll County Farmers Market, Saturday, August 31st
Carroll County Farmers Market will celebrate Back to School Day on Saturday, August 31, 2013. This will be a good time to pick up fresh produce and baked good for the Labor Day weekend. Carroll County Farmers Market, in Westminster, Maryland, is located at the Agricultural Center. If you are not familiar with the area, just follow the signs to the Ag Center. The market hours are from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
This week shoppers will be able to find cantaloupes, melons, peppers, tomatoes, potatoes, pears, watermelons, corn, apples, farm fresh eggs, farm raised beef, pork, lamb, and emu. Customers should come early for the best selection.
There will be at least 40 stands selling a wide variety of merchandise. Handmade fine arts and crafts vendors will also be here selling a wide variety of wares. Imports are not allowed. The week’s demonstrations are “Chair Caning” by Rick Barrick and a “fleas, ticks and Mosquitoes” clinic by the Master Gardeners. A large selection of fresh cut flowers will be available, as well as locally grown garden mums.
Dolores and I love the fruit pies baked by Anita Bullock. Dolores slices the pies and freezes the individual slices for future desserts.
Breakfast and Lunch will be served. Pancake breakfast and egg sandwiches are popular breakfast items. Homemade slices of pie and cake are always great for dessert.
There is no charge for admission and parking is free.
Follow the signs "To Ag Center"
