Blog NOT a word! How can this be? What are we all doing on Active Rain? Gee, I thought we were Bloggers who were Blogging and writing Blogs!

Did you know that Blogging is not a word? Boggle is a word!

While I am typing the word "blog" right this minute, there is that squiggly red line under the word "blog" which we all know is saying there is no such word!

There is a list of suggestions including, bogging and flogging and logging and clogging and slogging, but absolutely NO BLOGGING.

Now we were all really excited when Active Rain announced that we have a spell check.

We have all waited so long for this special feature to make our BLOGGING so much easier. So while writing a comment on this post The Magic of Toastmasters, I used that word "BLOG".

After finishing my comment and clicking this icon the squiggly red line appeared under "BLOG"!

How long do we have to wait before the spell checkers of the world recognize BLOG, BLOGGING, BLOGGERS?

When you "google" "blog" there are 70,200,000 hits! That's a whole lot of entries! But is that possible if Blog is Not a word?

Until that time that the non-word (blog) makes it into the dictionary. If you are using Microsoft Word.... all you have to do after you have run spell check, a little window will pop up showing the word "blog" with alternative spelling. All you have to do is the button "Add to dictionary"

T am sure it will make it to the dictionary I can't see why not. Jeff already made the suggestion I was going to make about adding the word to Microsoft Word dictionary.

Jeff, Jen and Sharon,Yes my tongue is still in my cheek. Of course i know how to add words such as blog to the dictionary. There is that squiggly red line again. In AR's spell checker you don't have the option to add only ignore and I am not about to ignore BLOG, BLOGGING or us BLOGGERS.

Danny Thank you for the Wikipedia definition so now we know that someone (other than the spell checker) knows that these are words. And Maureen, Does this mean until the red squiggly goes away under blog you are not going to do it anymore. Maybe we should run a contest to see how long it takes for the Red Squiggly to go away. You know I like saying red squiggly, I just don't like it under BLOG.

Oops I now have 5 red sqigglies in this comment. Danny Wikipedia is not a work either!

LOL Margaret, you bring up a point that has me in wonderment also. Seems like many other colloquialisms got added to 'ol Meriam Webster much sooner. Can anyone say bling? That did not take long. Maybe we need an email petition to Meriam :-)
