Wine tasting in Oregon's Willamette Valley

On my recent wine tasting trip to Oregon’s Willamette Valley the first winery visited was a major hit. The Solena Estate a producer of Pinot Noir from their estate vineyards as well as Pinot Gris, Merlot, Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and Late Harvest Riesling from select sites throughout Oregon and Washington.

Tasted a flight of Pinot Noirs which were all very good, what was as important to me was the wine making process. The estate fruit is a grown using principles of biodynamic agriculture.  In addition the estate utilizes solar power, of which they generate ½ of the power need from their massive solar array.

The winery is beautifully done blending seamlessly into the hillside adding the overall beauty of the estate. A great place to start and finish a day of wine tasting.

Sounds like a lovely trip Adrian!  I'm always interested in learning more about professionals who utilize natural resources to fuel their business.  You popped two corks for the price of one with this post... now I really need to go there and try a little sip ;-)

Aw, and now I'm a fan too. I will have to visit this vineyard and see first hand the eco-smart production methods. Thanks for the heads up - and cheers. ;)

Hi Adrian,

I am jealous as we love to visit wineries and do the various tastings. It is really good to see that this group is very green in their business. The wines sound really good. I wonder if we can find some of their wines here in the Houston area?

Adrian, now that would be a really fun trip! We were just talking with some family members about going on a wine tasting trip to Napa Valley next Spring. WA State has some great ones as well!
