Setting A High Standard for Service

Customer service is a concept so easily stated but often missed. Someone asked me what makes an agent stand out over another agent when they pretty much have access to the same information, have similar designations behind their names and have been in the industry for the same length of time.  In other words, when two agents have similar resumes, why would one agent be hired over another agent? Of course, there could be personal preferences why one would choose to work with one person over another but aside from that it is ALL in how the agent makes the prospective seller or buyer feel and it balls down to Customer Service/Satisfaction...

Customer Service- Placing the needs of the person in question first. Showing that person that his or her needs matter and going above and beyond your call of duty to try to oblige that individual, is my definition of customer service.

In a world where competition is fierce, people can pick and choose with whom to hire for the job and it's up to the agent to stand out. I find that no matter how many designations are behind one's name, or how many years an agent has been in the business, or how knowledgeable he or she may be about a particular geographical area, if they are lacking in fundamental people relations that his or her business will suffer.

If you are a consumer, How important is it to you in knowing that you are being treated with the upmost care when choosing an agent?

If you are an agent, How would you describe the type of customer service you deliver to your customers/clients and prospects?

April, no matter the qualifications, customer service should always be the basis of a good business. If a client wants to work with you but find the customer service subpar, they will leave. At the very least, tell everyone they know how badly you treated them. In any case, your reputation will suffer and say goodbye to anymore clients. Clients need to be treated with respect, decency, and most importantly, like a human being. Don't try to pull the wool over their eyes because it will only backfire.

Phil-

Thanks for your comment. Yes, there is a saying that if you do good work word will travel to at least 30 people but if the service is bad word will travel to 3,000 people.
