After spending the better part of a decade providing real estate designation classes in short sales & REO, the founders of Harris Real Estate University are returning to their roots with real estate coaching by "Tim & Julie Harris".
While they plan to continue offering the same quality designation programs trusted by thousands of agents nationwide, the organization itself will be changing its name as part of a move to refocus the organization on the coaching sector.
So why the name change? Is it an admission of defeat in the REO/short-sale market now that the economy is improving? The short answer is no: the REO & short sale programs provided by Tim & Julie Harris are as strong as ever, but as the market improves they've decided to shift focus and "return to their roots" in the coaching sector.
As Julie describes in the audio interview on this page, she and Tim got into coaching in the 1990's, after selling over 100 houses their first year, becoming Howard Brinton Stars, and publishing the book "Zero to Ten Million in One Year".
"Coaching came out of a sense of helping each other move forward, and Tim and I have always had that spirit of giving. Maybe it’s because we’re originally from the Midwest and you help your neighbor out 'cause you never know if they’re gonna be taken away by a tornado the next day.
Life is too short to not help each other, and, certainly, in real estate. Between clients and other agents, and strange things that happen in transactions, and financing and inspections, the job is hard enough without helping each other thrive and go to the next level, so that’s kind of the spirit of coaching for us."
- Julie Harris
Tim & Julie maintained an independent coaching organization for years, then became part of the Mike Ferry Organization - only to part company with him when they saw trouble brewing in the pre-crash 2007 marketplace. They launched Harris Real Estate University to educate agents on staying afloat in a down market - and the rest is history.
Now, history repeats itself as improving market conditions push more agents back into mainstream real-estate. Faced with the prospect of re-entering a competitive marketplace, agents are seeking 1-on-1 coaching assistance to help them get "back in the saddle" - and Tim & Julie Harris are ready to help them succeed in today's marketplace.
