Ode to Late Summer Gardens - Happy Labor Day Weekend!

Ode to Late Summer Gardens

Have you noticed the softening light of late?  Fall is slowly sneaking up on us. The waning days of summer are still sweet and warm in the Pacific Northwest, yet you can sense the change.

Today, on this final day of August, the garden reflects the changing season. Colors, while still rich and vibrant, echo the golds of autumn. The lighter and brighter palettes are more subdued.

Happy Labor Day Weekend - it's time for a shift in our lifestyle and the official change in seasons is near.

Late Summer Gardens

ViewHomes™ grew out of our passion for nature, beautiful surroundings, and peaceful environments. Starting together in an urban environment, over the years we've gravitated towards areas with smaller populations and less density. We now enjoy our lifestyle in a rural environment, but with close proximity to metropolitan areas where we appreciate all the amenities of fine restaurants, shopping, and an easy drive to an international airport.
Living in ViewHomes™ is like having “elbowroom for the soul”.

I cannot believe this is the last day of August.  We are having hot weather, and it seems like summer is continuing...September is usually a continuation of summer around here...I am not ready for autumn, although I love all the seasonal changes (yes, we do get them fallen leaves and colors here).  Have a great weekend, A

Hi Alexandra - it's actually warm here too. However, the bent light rays are noticeably different. I LOVE it. Although, I'm happy to continue with sunshine for a while yet.

We've got tomatoes and lemon cucumbers galore - I know there is a salad for dinner tonight.  Have a wonderful rest of the day.  D

Debb- I love the variety of flowers that you're able to grow further north.  We've had so much rain this past summer, my poor bougainvilleas aren't blooming.

Debb to us the end of summer mean cooler weather and being able to put out pretty flowers again.  I do miss the fall changes - such a pretty time of year.

Debb,  Your flowers are lovely.  We're lucky in that we have beautiful foliage all year round but, like Anna, I miss the fall season as well.  Love the changing of the leaves!

Great flowers Debb...I was so busy this summer I let all my phlox and dragonhead flowers pass without snapping them...I will be better next year I hope!

Debb, what beautiful flowers you have!    It does feel like summer is coming to an end, the evenings are getting cooler, and already a few leaves falling.

Too bad Janis. I like it all - except for January and February - it's normally just too dark and wet around here during those two months.

Sharon - exactly.

Anita - perhaps you'll get a wonderful warm Fall this year.

Debb, FOOTBALL is the word that is passing over my husband's lips with great anticipation! He loves fall, because the summer-kins go home from the lake and it is more "ours". This collage makes me want to go pull photos over the summer or flower pics that I took and never spent time editing....

Debb, love the pictures.  Fall is sneaking up rather quickly here in Vermont.  I have one tree that has already lost all of its red leaves!  A few trees are just beginning to change color now, but that one was ahead of the game and is totally bare.
