This Doesn't Happen Everyday...But I Saw a Bear Today
Always a fun day when you see a bear, thanks for sharing your excitement with us Debbie.
Have a great week basking in the beauty of Colorado.
This Doesn't Happen Everyday...But I Saw a Bear Today. You are certainly familiar with deer crossing signs and in Colorado you will even see elk and moose crossing signs, but you never see a bear crossing sign. Today I saw a bear cross the road.
I'm driving along and all of a sudden I see a bear's head pop up along the side of the road. Imagine my surprise. I had to pull over and see what this bear was going to do. I've seen several bears, but not one trying to cross a highway. The bears I've seen are deep in the woods. My hands were shaking a bit. I didn't know if this bear was going to come after me. They don't like busy places. This picture was taken just north of Ridgway, Colorado on Hwy 550.
I was about 100 yards away from this bear. I stayed right by the car in case he decided to take an interest in me. He didn't. He was studying traffic.
What a treat to see. Unfortunately I couldn't get a picture of him as he popped his head up right along the side of road as I was driving by. This bear was the most beautiful shade of brown. He was like a dark chocolate bar. He also looked like he had been groomed. His eyes were an even deeper shade of brown, and I just wanted to reach out and pet him. (of course I'm just assuming the bear is a he). I'm really glad he made it across the road safely. There wasn't much traffic, but he was watching. When a semi truck went by, he ducked back down along the road and waited for it to pass. He kept sticking his head up to check for traffic. This is one smart bear.
This doesn't happen everyday...but I saw a bear today. It was an awesome sight to see.
I've lived on Colorado's Western Slope for over 22 years. I love this area and all it has to offer, and I enjoy sharing what I know about my home. As a real estate broker, I also love to share my expertise in this area as well. If you need any real estate information for Montrose County, or Delta County, Colorado...please give me a call.
