ASK AN AMBASSADOR: Have You Written FAQ Posts?

Blogging toolsASK AN AMBASSADOR:  Have You Written FAQ Posts?

If you want to get extra mileage out of your blogging work, write FAQ (Frequently Asked Question) posts.  We've had Active Rain challenges in the past that rewarded bloggers for answering questions that you get asked frequently.  Face it, there are MANY questions you get asked over and over!

  • How much can I get for my house?
  • How long will it take to sell my home?
  • How do I appeal the taxes on the home I bought?
  • How do I apply for a homestead exemption?
  • What do I need to do to prep my home for sale?
  • How do you market my home for sale?
  • What do I need to know about septic systems?  wells?  cisterns?
  • What does the residential property disclosure form cover?  Do I need to disclose a problem I had 7 years ago?
  • Why are you requiring me to get a preapproval letter?
  • How much are HOA fees for ________ community? What services are provided?
  • When does school start?
  • Where can I find golf course homes?
  • Pool community homes?

And we're just barely scratching the surface on the FAQs you could write!

Once you've written these posts, you can get plenty of use out of them.  If you've got other websites, you can create a FAQ section, or take the content and create a Wordpress page.  And when you get one of those emails asking a question you've covered, write an intro and include the link to your FAQ blog post.  Easy peasy, right?  Why reinvent the wheel when you've already ridden that unicycle?  Don't you already have enough new work to do to not repeat past work?

Keep on Blogging!

Sharon, Fantastic leverage for your posts!

Jill, Hmmm, that's the same thing our crystal ball said!

Debbie, Great proof of their power!  And excellent double use as training tools!

Anita, All we have to do is listen to our clients and prospects, they'll supply the questions.

Yvette, Easy to tailor them to local areas and look for a real estate specific link that gives you an "excuse" to add a Search For Homes link.

Donna, Another powerful way to maximize the value of your posts!

Kate, They're the kind of posts that can prove our expertise and give a glimpse into our personalities.

Excellent suggestion, BLiz. FAQs are a great source of post ideas and multi-purposing them to use in other ways (in handbooks, handout, open house flyers, mailers, etc.) makes so much sense. And you know they will get readers! I have written a number of these although I don't label them as such.

I have yet to write one, but I think I was just inspired to make a FAQ list just about the homeowners' association I live in.

I am actually in the process of doing this right now on my website. I'll just take posts I've already written here, rework them a little and use in an FAQ section of my website blog.

Jeff, We often don't label them directly as such either, but they are what they are.  And you've added some great additional uses for them too!

Gary, One of the most common questions we either get emails about or see Google search engine matches for involves local HOAs.  That's a good topic to hit hard.

Tammie, For our WP site, my first priority has been our subdivision posts, and after that will be the FAQ type posts reworked.  It's slow going, but it's going :)

Pat, Definitely!  So many extra ways to get use out of these.

Hi Liz & Bill.  FAQ's are kind of like objections.  You tend to hear the same ones.

Conrad, There are definitely certain ones that come up, particularly around how the home buying and selling process works.

Kathy, I love to "recycle" our posts, whether FAQ or others.  Just wrote one on a 55+ community today and was able to email the link to potential buyers out of state :)

I am grateful for the recent challenges that required FAQ posts, they are more difficult to conceive and write, but the rewards are great with positive responses and many features.
