Puunene Maui Hawaii - blast from the past

This part of Maui was once a thriving community built around the HC&S Sugar Mill.  Not much remains of the homes that housed the camp workers, and there's little to remind us of how life was back then.  Even though these are new pictures, they give you an impression of how things looked once upon a time on Maui...

Hi Georgina, The photos tying back in time to the local history is wonderful. Nice job and very interesting. It did bring back memories of photos I has seen of Hawaii from back in the 50's.

Georgina, I would never have guessed that Hawaii was down to one sugar mill in operation.

Hi and thanks for the comments. Yes it's the last sugar mill that still runs and when they close their doors it will mark the end of that era.

Hi Georgina,

It was a simplier life and the construction was much simplier back then. It is fun to see the older pictures and remember good times, less congestion and less traffic too. I sometimes wish we could go back to that era! I love your post office picture.
