Only in Eugene: Scary Dolls in Search of Storage

Scary clown doll on Castle Storage sign on Danebo Road in Eugene, OregonEugene prides itself on being different from a typical town.  I'm always discovering new and interesting places and examples that show why people here take pride in their individuality.

This carries over to local businesses too.  This sign catches your attention when you're driving southbound on Danebo Road and crossing the railroad tracks near Castle Storage.

Every time I drive this road, I never fail to see the clown doll and headline.  I don't currently need storage, but if I do I'll be thinking of Castle Storage as the place to store my stuff.

Rick- Smart marketing, and I can think of a few homes I've staged that should have called Castle Storage.

This reminds me of a hunter that was a client. I told him that his collection of "heads' scare people.   He didn't think it would be a big deal, until the cable guy went downstairs to install cable and went running and screaming out of the house.  He was so freaked out by the large number of head at eye level - it really frightened him.   I said, when I sell this home, these go to storage.

There is a message in here.  What could we all think of that could be this catchy to brand ourselves.  Thanks for the inspiration.

It's great for us to network with local small businesses.  Maybe you can find out more about that business from the owner(s) and how they came up with that sign.  It really does grab attention!

That sign is one of the best marketing ideas I've seen in a long time.

Great advertisement. Almost want to store stuff there or at least drive by so I can see the sign. Bares a resemblance to some of the people I have worked with.

Great sign and great post.  I will have to start looking around to see if I can find any interesting signs like this one in Corpus Christi, Texas.  Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for reading this Only in Oregon blog post and commenting.  Castle Storage bills itself as the largest self storage facility in Eugene, with over 1300 units in different sizes.  It even has a metal dragon named Ophelia on a castle tower guarding the entrance.  I may write a post about Castle Storage and its owners in the future.
