Ranch style homes are HOT!

Castle Rock is a fairly "new" town - only 50,000 people, and most of that growth has hapened in the past 10 years.  My wife and I moved here 15 years ago - engaged to be married, we bought our first home in "The Meadows" subdivision.  Our home was a two story with a walk out basement, and 3 stairs going down from the kitchen to the den.  As well as 2 stairs going up from the main part of our master bedroom to a sitting area and fireplace in the room.  We were young - early 30's - and enjoyed going up and down all the stairs all the time!  Then we got pregnant with our first child.  Once we started carrying him up and down all the stairs all the time - we got tired!!!  And not only having to lug our laundry and child up and down the stairs, once he started crawling, we had to worry about him falling down the stairs!  So along came the baby gates.  Now for those of you that have had kids and had baby gates - you've probably crushed a finger or two in them, tripped over them, knocked them down, re-installed them, etc. You get my point!

Back when we moved to Castle Rock, most of the homes were two story, bi level, or tri-level.  And we were a "young" town.  Today, I have many clients who prefer to live mostly on one floor!  Homes with main floor masters appeal to those with children who are school age or older, or empty nesters.  Instead of the appeal of the washer and dryer being "upstairs" with the bedrooms, the appeal is to have the bedrooms on the main floor with the washer and dryer!

I represent a builder who understands the appeal and beauty of a ranch home.  That's why he builds The Gilbert style of home.  A beautiful RANCH style home with a walkout basement (finish on that is optional).  And he has one available to move into in just a few weeks!  1225 Wilcox, listed at only $450,000 is a 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom, 3 car garage dream home located in the highly desired Plum Creek neighborhood in Castle Rock!  This is golf course living at it's best!

And Lokal Homes spares no expense in finishing touches and upgrades.  Come see for yourself the gourmet kitchen, professional stainless steel appliances (including a double oven, gas cook top, walk in pantry and large center island), art niches, tray ceilings, crown molding, and stone fireplace.

Interesting how different home styles are "hot" in different market areas.  In my market, Arlington, Virginia, we call the one story homes "ramblers" and while it is a good fit for some buyers most prefer the two story colonials.  Most of the homes are older - colonials built in the 30s and 40s and ramblers built in the 50s but for the newer homes the lot sizes are not big enough to accomodate a one-level home or even a home with a first floor master without giving up some of the other features that are most important.

Good point Elizabeth.  I know lot sizes can be tough!  But sometimes people don't think about stairs until they break a leg or get really ill, or have an older or ill relative move in with them.  Then they have an issue if they don't have at least a bedroom and a 3/4 bathroom on the main floor! : )
