After years of leaking roofs, the damage can show up in the flooring.

A long time apartment resident finally moved out after nearly 20 years. The building had a leaking roof for a few years and the water had worked its way down the fireplace chase. The Water damage repair in Sacramentowater did not appear in the walls, so no one had any idea that there was a problem until now.

There were a few areas where the damage was so extensive the flooring had become very weak and brittle. Now that we know that there is a problem it will take a bit of time to correct the damage that the water has done.

Water damage from a roof leak can sometimes go unnoticed when it runs down the chimney chase. In this particular apartment the subflooring is cover with lightweight concrete, the water can travel under the concrete. Water sitting not able to dry out can be a recipe for mold and deterioration. After a few years, the subflooring can fail – that is what happened here.

If you are experiencing this sort of damage in Sacramento, it is important that you contact a contractor with knowledge of the repair and replacement of water damaged subflooring. Of course the source of the problem needs to be the first; a qualified contractor can help you there too!

Good morning Tom. It is those concealed defects that often cost the most. Good catch!

Water can be the erosion that eats away the side hill lawn, the force with frost and become ice to heave a foundation and cause cracks large enough to throw a cat out of...powerful stuff. Inside a home it cause the mold health problem and moisture unchecked will rock away the home. But make contractors have lots of work, the kind that could have been avoid! Great images to show, prove the point!

Next you're going to say that water flows down.  Isn't that right?

Well, you have to prove the physics before you can say that!

Oh, wait, you did...

My bad.

Yes, water seems to do so much damage and sometimes it's slow so it's less obvious.

It's amazing how much damage water can do and how it can go un-noticed for a long time.

Yes Jay, I did say that water flows down... then there is the issue of wicking...

True Debbie, I guess we just need to be more deligient in looking for moisture in our homes.

It is Amazing Roger, but it happens.
