2013 Applefest Cedaredge, CO Time to Celebrate the Harvest. The morning air has a chill to it telling us that fall is almost here, and that means it's time for Applefest. This is the 36th year for the event and it keeps getting bigger and better every year. This year the event is on October 5th and 6th, 2013.

Applefest is always the first full weekend in October, but the events start on the Thursday before the weekend with the chili cookoff to support our local volunteer fire department. Friday is the Golden Gala which is a great date night event. The weekend's activities kick off bright and early Saturday morning with the Applefest 5k.

Soon after the runners and walkers cross the finish line, the music gets started in the town park. Here is the list of the performers scheduled for this year. The rest of the weekend is filled with festival food, arts and crafts booths, kid activities, more music and fun times with old friends. There's also a classic car and antique tractor show.

2013 Applefest Cedaredge, CO Time to Celebrate the HarvestThis year's event will have another feature that will only happen this year. That's the unveiling of the Main Street Improvement Project. A good portion of Applefest takes place on Main Street in Cedaredge. The town is really hoping to have all of the improvements completed by festival time. It's going to be close.

Check out these pictures from last year's Applefest.

Cedaredge is in the Surface Creek area of Delta County. This area is known for it's orchards, and not only apple orchards. We have peaches, apricots, cherries and plums. Our hot summers and mild winters make for great growing conditions.

I've lived on Colorado's Western Slope for over 22 years. I love this area and all it has to offer, and I enjoy sharing what I know about my home. As a real estate broker, I also love to share my expertise in this area as well. If you need any real estate information for Montrose County, or Delta County, Colorado...please give me a call.

Good morning Debbie,

You were up and posting early this morning.  The Apple Fest sounds like a blast.  The unveiling of the Main Street Project will be exciting also.   I hope the rains haven't slowed them down too much.

Hi Debbie - Applefest looks like a really fun local event. We're not getting many hints of fall quite yet, but we know it's on the way.

Applefest, sounds like a great reason to have a community get together. Has the rain had any major affects around you?

Good Morning Debbie,

Applefest must be an event that people look forward to on an annual basis. There's no better way to embrace the season of fall than through obtaining healthy apples, fresh off the trees!

The thought of holding a chili cook-off to benefit the local firefighters is a thoughtful way to show appreciation to all the volunteers and firefighters who do so much to keep the communities safe.

I didn't know that your area is known for its many orchards. It must be beautiful in the Fall! Thanks for providing such great information about your lovely community.

Good Morning, We had our first frost this morning, a lot earlier than average.  Seeing your apple post any apple lover know this is the time to go pick as it works its magic to make the apples even better. I am glad to hear you were not affected by the flooding. I am off to an early start, have a great day

Hi Debbie~ Do you attract many out of towners for this event, or is it mostly locals?

Hi Debbie, Applefest's 36th year!  That's real community building and it will be good for all to see that improved Main Street.

I just love this time of year!  Will have to have my one carmel peanut covered apple soon!

Have fun!

Gloria
