Durango Riverfront Property with 22 Acres

Team Lorenz was recently asked to market this beautiful riverfront property near Durango, Colorado.

Durango real estate-the pine River

Relax and listen to the Pine River as it approaches and makes a gentle turn just before entering this spectacular property. You don’t just notice the sound of the river….it is the only sound you hear.  When you walk into this home over the hand-chiseled large-stone steps, you will probably agree with us that this site on the river,  set against the backdrop of the red barn of your neighbor across the river with the freshly mowed hay field and the pine covered mountains is, by far, one of the most beautiful sites anywhere along the Pine River. You won’t want to leave, and your guests will be overwhelmed with the beauty and the experience of this 22 acre park-like setting.  Incredibly private (you can’t see any of the improvements from the county road over 1000 feet away) yet very convenient since it is only 10 minutes to Bayfield and about 25 minutes to Durango.

From nearly every room in the home you can see and hear the river in all its beauty.  It is with that backdrop, that the owners named this ranch SONIDOS DEL RIO… which means Sounds of the River in Spanish.  Perched on a crest 75 feet above the Pine River, the owners have crafted a truly special high end  “cabin” that makes a perfect home now but could be the ideal guest house if you wanted to build something larger.  Very solidly crafted, this pine log home has numerous custom details including hand-hewed and dovetailed logs from North Carolina plus cabinetry made by craftsmen of Santa Fe using reclaimed wood well over 100 years old.  The detail work in the kitchen-drawer fronts is reminiscent of a time long ago with the “hammered” look but modern silent closing drawers.   The detail in the woodwork throughout the home is very olde world with all of the interior doors being handmade from two inch thick reclaimed timber, as well.  The vaulted ceiling in the living room and dining areas is 24 feet at the peak and the Regency woodstove or the forced air furnace along with the double insulated roof and urethane insulated and heated basement (storage area) will allow you to be kept warm in the winter months.  The resawn, hand-sanded Walnut hardwood floors are tongue and grooved and their rich dark color adds to the overall warmth of the home.  I’m not sure you can get people to fight for the privilege to wash the dinner dishes, but whoever pulls KP will have that spectacular view down the river while standing at the kitchen sink.  Looking to light a few romantic candles?  Then take a soak in the main floor Jacuzzi bathtub…. watch the river, get lost in the sounds of the waters below, and the workday stresses disappear.

Priced at $1,900,000 these types of properties do not come on the market very often.  For additional information, including a video on this beautiful home, please click on the following link:

Hi, Rick...you describe this property so poetically. I want to buy it. Does the river have any fish? That is my criteria. LOL. Probably brookie and rainbow is my guess. Cutthroat would be better.

Does the Pine River have fish? Does a bear growl? Do Eagles fly? You bet, it's great fishing right there. I'm not sure poetic is the right word, but we do try to describe it in a way that it becomes a story. Even at that price range, most people buy there home based on "feeling" rather than the nitty-gritty things like R factor, 220/110 V electricity etc.
