FLResidents:Flood Zones & Insurance Costs Can Now Be Found Online!

FEMA recently updated its FloodSmart website with new flood zones, as well as estimated costs of coverage for each area. Living in Florida, this is crucial for many of us as most of us are affected by at least some flooding during torrential rainstorms.

Upon visiting FloodSmart, you can find information on Residential coverage, Commercial coverage, preparing for a flood, recovering from a flood, and check on flood map coverage for Broward County and all surrounding counties. Currently, they are in the process of updating the maps for several counties.

If you have any questions about purchasing or selling a home in Broward County, we invite you to give us a call at 954-237-0600, or visit our website. The Tello Team is here to help, every step of the way!

Christopher and Natascha, this morning's Sarasota Herald Tribune published an article specifically about these rising flood premium rates. The article fell short of citing that these higher rates will cause many homeowners on the 'edge' to cease making their mortgage payments forcing the banks to foreclose when the homeowners are unable to find willing buyers capable of these obscene flood premiums. Who is kidding who? Homeowners are not benefiting by these flood policies forced on them because some bureaucrat in FEMA decides that the home that has never been threatened by a flood is suddenly at risk of floating away. I would have to say the insurance lobby has won over the needs of the many!

The rules change October 1st. Hopefully there will be options. Think it will really hurt business in my area.
