Challenged!

By
Real Estate Agent with MagnumOne Realty CA BRE Lic. # 01418097

I received the below message from Krista Bolf an agent in Medford/Ashland Oregon:

Subject: you are my point hero

I will be catching you soon

I tell myself that I am not here for the points but I find myself monitoring my rankings in California (203), Placer County (5) and Roseville (3) so I have to admit I enjoy seeing my rankings getting higher.

On the other hand I have enjoyed having a forum to let off some steam, ask a question, or just to write about what I am thinking about and knowing I will get some positive feedback.  That really is pretty cool.

Krista, blog away baby and see if you can catch me!

It's funny how those points work!  I was on TOP of the world when Active Rain started.  I started blogging the same time Donna Harris started and everytime I open AR, there is her with over 200,000 points.  I kind of forgot about AR for a while, came back and I was like 10th...not in the nation or state, but in my little city!

So I pulled myself up by the bootstraps and went to town.  Now, I've just crossed 10,000 pts and I can not catch the next guy until over 30,000, BUT, now I noticed one of the folks I passed along the way has caught fire and is trying to pass me!   The hunter becomes the hunted I guess!

All I'm really saying, is that we don't do it for the points per se, but it sure does make it fun!

Julie,

I now have 4 other agents(in my office) blogging here in the rain and I told them to "catch me if you can"

I totally agree with Ron's post above. We don't start out trying to beat the next guy, but somehow when we see we can get immediate results (when we are used to waiting for the fruits of our labor) we get hooked!

'hmmm. I know that I'm 10th in my state right now and have 10,000 points to catch the next one as well! Amazing isn't it - and fun for the competitive...

Mike - So you are one of those who makes the challenges....I'll bet you like to tease too.

Patrick - Do you thing the points and rankings bring out the competitiveness in us?

Lindsey - You sound like me....I even wondered how easy it would be to be number 1  if I had not moved from Alaska to California.  I am not giving up the warm summer evening for any ranking!!!

Julie you little brat :-) you passed me up.  Now you are 202.  I will be 199 tomorrow, bet me!  I'm enjoying watching myself move up as well.  Did you know the average time frame for a blogger is 3mos?  They usually quit within 3 months.  May I be so busy I can't find time to blog anymore!  Keep up the good work!

Dorene my love - So you are the one who moves me back and forth as we stive to get into the top 100!  It feels so good to really be busy again and I really do prefer escrows to rain points!  I have a secret weapon on blogging and I can't tell but do know it has lasted for almost four years and I can't see an end in sight!

Send me some buyers, you must have lots that can't afford a starter house where you are!

All the best, Julie Jalone
