Happily, parts of this country are for recreational use only. High rugged beauty tempting the outdoor adventurer throughout the year. The High Uintas fall into this category, shared by Utah and Wyoming.
From Evanston WY, Clay Zimmerman and his goats met me at the Utah State Fair ~ a friendly country bunch indeed. Clay's goats are huge, fitting small horse size but with sure feet for the offered terrain. You see, Clay and friends make up the innovative (nowhere else) business of High Uinta Pack Goats.
When you get the urge to backpack the Uintas, take a couple of goats to ease your burden. They are more than human friendly. Sez Clay: "You have no privacy when trekking with my goats". The animals are easy maintenance ~ they graze when you eat, and follow, ever curious, when you are ready to move.
In my opinion, they would probably help you erect your tent and be inside first. Definitely animals with character.
