Bad Things Happen everywhere

Yesterday, September 13, 2013 was indeed Friday the 13th for Tompkins High School; domestic violence hit the school in the form of a fatal shooting in the school parking lot. Around 6:10 AM a school cafeteria worker arrived at Tompkins for her job. Her estranged husband shot her and then took off. Two of the high school coaches performed CPR until paramedics arrived unfortunately the woman was pronounced dead at Katy Hermann Memorial Hospital. The man later killed himself.

Although, Katy is a very safe place to live, bad things can happen anywhere. Domestic violence affects not only those who live it but those around it. It is in every demographic at all ages. Please be aware and if someone you know or love is in abusive relationship please try to get them to get help. No one can leave a relationship until they are ready.

I just want to commend those coaches who tried to say this woman’s life!

Yolanda: As you said, bad things can happen any time and any place. The thing to remember is that no matter what happens, God is still on His throne. May He pour His peace down on Katy like never before, and I pray that this will draw the community closer to Him during this difficult time. XOXO

Good morning Yolanda.  Such a sad, sad situation and awful way to begin the school year off for the kids.  My brother in law who is a retired cop says domestic violence is one of the most dangerous situations to be in the middle of.

Yolanda-It is sad that so many people are so miserable that they feel their only outlet for despair and disappointment is to destroy someone else and maybe themselves.

How sad.  Wonder what was going through his head to do in the school parking lot?

Yolanda,

What a total sahme and gosh I hope this does not put some kind of stigma on Tompkins. Great advice to folks who are in an abusive relationship. That idiot husband shot himself in Brookshire when sawt squad showed up. I feel so bad  for the family.

You are right, it is a sad truth that bad things can and do happen everywhere.

Thanks all for stopping by and sharing your thoughts my prayers go out to the family. The thing I wanted most to point out is that domestic violence can impact us all even if we are not in abusive relationship.
