I was so excited this morning to wake up to blue skies and sunshine. I headed out to run some errands, grocery shop and even got Rocky out for a walk.
About an hour ago, I saw the dark clouds heading our way and heard the rumbling of the clouds. Next I knew, the tornadoe sirens were going off so I grabbed my camera and ran outside to see if I could get a shot of any twisters. Sadly, I couldn't see a thing through the downpour.
I took a few pictures before my camera lense got soggy and watched as the buckets of rain fell outside my home.
Our state has been hit hard this week. Many towns are still under water and people have been evacuated. Luckily, the water has stayed outside of my house.
We have a friend who has a 5th grader in the Estes Park area along with 50 classmates and some nervous chaperones. They went out for a field trip before the rain started on Tuesday. They were all supposed to be camping out in cabins without electricity and water and there is no cell service in their location. They do have a two way radio and have radio'd in to the police so the parents know that the kids are safe. Tomorrow, a huge chopter (Chinook) is scheduled to fly in and retrieve them all. Won't this be a great story for the kids to tell for years and years. Thankfully they are safe and dry.
