Leander Bluegrass Festival celebrates its 8th Annual Two Night Event 9/27-9/28
Leander Bluegrass Festival will be on September 27th and 28th at Robin Bledsoe Park (601 S. Bagdad). Citizen come out for this free event for live music, concessions with many vendors, and plenty of children's activities.
Leander’s Bluegrass Festival 8th annual event is a two night festival filled with great local bands, great music, and variety of bluegrass sounds. The bands will include: Piney Grove Ramblers, The Stray Bullets, Carry Illinois, Four Fights per Pint, The Devin Jake Band,The Show and Tellers, The Bottom Dollar String Band, and the Carper Family.
Leander Bluegrass Festival event is presented by Suddenlink. Coolers and Alcohol are allowed at the park but glass containers are prohibited. Friendly pets are welcome on a leash. The Robin Bledsoe Water Playscape will be open until 8pm.
First Night Event September 27th , 2013 6:pm-10:30pm
- 6:pm- Jam Session at the Robin Bledsoe Group Pavilion
- 7:pm - The Piney Grove Ramblers,The Piney Grove Ramblers are an Austin based band that perform an Appalachian influenced bluegrass.
- 8:pm - The Stray Bullets, The Stray Bullets is a band of musicians who play for the love of playing music. Players are Tom Caven (dobro, guitar , and vocals), Tate Erlinger (banjo, mandolin, and guitar), Bob Cartwright (guitar, washboard/percussion and vocals), Kevin Cartwright (drummer), and Teddy Philippus ( bass, harp).
- 9:pm -Carry Illinois A wonderful group with late-night, heart worn, indie folk from Austin, TX.
Second Night Event September 28th, 2013 6:pm-10;30:pm
- 5:pm - Jam session at the Robin Bledsoe Group Pavilion
- 6:pm - Four Fights per Pint, Four Fights Per Pint formed via the good old internet. The band came together over the course of a couple of years with the help of online classified ads. Finally, like-minded individuals with talent, humor, and no egos found each other with the goal of picking some solid bluegrass and having a great time.
7:pm - The Bottom Dollar String Band, Formed in the hills of central Texas in early 2011 Bottom Dollar String Band began making music with just a mandolin and banjo. Sparked by a love of old-timey string bands and traditional music the two friends began exploring the great music of America's past together.- 8:pm - The Devin Jake Band, Devin has the true make-up of a classic country-roots singer…a small town boy from a musical family with first-hand knowledge of heartbreak and the lonesome, haunting lyrics and vocals to portray it.
- 9:pm - The Carper Family, The Carper Family is a family band like no other, spinning out the effortless harmonies of a born-family with the range and diversity of a made-family... Whatever the bloodline, the music hits the ear with both depth and simplicity, capturing the essence of true country music.
