Probably unchanged old home in Searcy AR. Sleuths, can you find it?

Several of the Searcy Sleuths no longer live in Searcy but are proud of the town where they grew up.

I'm thinking that this house dates back to their youth in Searcy and has probably had no changes since that time.  It has been on this big pretty lot since I have been in Searcy.  I once wrote a blog about the bigger the tree, the older the house.  Go review it if you'd like.  The tree was at the old home of Wilbur Mills in Kensett.

Now look at the size of the tree in this front yard!

Each time I drive by I slow down and stare.  I tend to see it as it was when built with big windows for the fresh air to come in, a front porch for sitting and visiting with neighbors, and perhaps an attic room with a dormer for kids to stare out at neighbors.

When it was built, it may have been in the country.  But not anymore!

So, Sleuths, do you remember it?

I've been in Searcy once but it looks like at one time that was a great home.  It still has character.

Right now I don't have a clue, unless it's out there in your neck of the woods, meaning the West End, and maybe off the highway coming into Searcy?

Don, get out the google map and go lookin.

Was this a home in Judsonia that someone bought and is going to restore.  I vaguely remember that.  I think that I remember the new doors setting on the porch in your other blog.  Might be wrong though.

James, come back to Searcy and say hello.

Anita, you have become lazy.  It is very much in Searcy but perhaps not on your old street.  Don must be napping or traveling!!

Sharon, it is in Searcy.  However, we had a similar one in Judsonia that survived the tornado and made it to my blog!!  Good memory!

I'm seeing a tile roof in the background. Is it by sw middle school close to the old Truman baker house?

Roy, you have perfect vision!  I did not see the tile roof just as I didn't see the tree that moves in the photos.  Welcome to Searcy Sleuthhood.  You found the house!

So is it on West Woodruff?  Or one of the streets off of Woodruff?    Good eye, Roy.  I noticed (believe it or not) the roof in the background.....but that's all.  Just noticed.

Don is busy tending to his wine.  He's become "the little old wine maker, me"....Anyone remember that?

Google man found it.  It isn't on Woodruff, but on Park immediately behind the old Truman Baker house.  THe tile roof is on the Baker house and the wooden fence separates the two properties.

Anita, perhaps Don will have a wine tasting party during your class reunion.  If he does, even I may show up!

Mary, you also have a good eye.  It is behind the old Truman Baker house.  Now how many people know who he was or where he lived!  We have never even blogged his house.

Barbara:  Don has said his wine should be ready for our get together, so we'll be setting a place for you.

How about doing some digging and then blogging the Truman Baker home on Woodruff.  Bob and I lived in a duplex across the street...close to Mr. Baker's home.  I could walk to my job at Rodgers Hospital.  The duplex has either just fallen in , or maybe it's been razed.  I shed a small tear the last time I drove by and saw it.  It was partially furnished, I MAY have a picture or two I'll send in.

Lil Ole Winemaker MeShe who must be obeyed got the Google Man and me to go down W. Park Ave. to look for some old ramshackle house. O.k. even though others have found it, I can show the pic.

It's between Pear and Maple on West Park Ave. 757 is estimated house number.

See, I have Don trained:  when I say jump, he says  'How high?"   THANK YOU, DON, for finding the house for me.  I never could have.

I've received my l979 Searcy/Beebe telephone book:  won it at an eBay auction . (actually there was no one else bidding against me)....I can't believe all the folks who were in Searcy then, and of course NOW, that I've never heard of.....all these businessess..   I called a classmate the other day, he has lived in Searcy all his life (so far) and says he's kept the same phone number ever since he's had a phone.

The house looks better in your picture, Barbara, than Don's...but neither one of them look very good.

Anita, go through your pictures and see what you have.  I figured Truman Baker is so well known that a blog was not needed.  His house is well known, however, and showing your old duplex might be interesting.  I'm going to let you taste Don's wine and pass judgement before I try it!!

Mary and all, the picture Don sent is even more deceptive because it appears to not directly face the street. It looks like it is at an angle.  We will have to say that camera's lie.

Don, I love your new wine picture!  And thanks for the house picture and location.  Your wine making and drinking could not be responsible for the tilted house, could it?  LOL

Barbara shame on you for your comment on the house appearance. As an artist, you should understand perspective very well. The look is all about the camera angle. The Google picture taking operation produces some interesting views because it is a moving camera with a rotating lens. As you move the Goggle man around a scene, you can see you have a 360° View with some skewing and distortion. I made a video of moving around the house on Google map.You can see it here  or go here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rPgBfQqXxOU&feature=youtu.be

Don, that is the BEST youtube.  I don't know how you manipulate that Google man like you do.  He dislikes me and refuses to even show me the front of a picture.  He lets you walk all the way around.  I understand perspective.  I had to learn it in college and in art.  But that was before google and moving cameras and all the modern stuff.  You have given me a better education and I definitely respect your keeping up with the times and being so @#$%^@! smart!!  LOL
