Summer officially ends this Saturday night. it's time to close that chapter of the year and open a new one at the Southern Maryland Artsfest in Dowell this weekend. No matter what medium you prefer, there will be something for you to enjoy at the Artsfest.

What: Southern Maryland Artsfest
Where: Annmarie Sculpture Garden (13480 Dowell Rd, Dowell, MD)
When: September 21 & 22, 10am to 5pm
Cost: $6 per adult, Kids under 12 & Annmarie Members FREE

Now in its 20th year, the Southern Maryland Artsfest is a one-of-a-kind in the area. Over 170 artists will set up booths showcasing their talents with pieces available for purchase. Three stages can barely contain the 25 performers scheduled throughout the weekend. Kids will be allowed to express their creativity, too, in the Zany Zone, Discovery Tent and Studio School. At anytime throughout the weekend you will see street performers such as stilt walkers, living statues, balloon artists, mimes and much more wandering around the gardens.

Don't worry about going hungry. Annmarie has got it covered with several food vendors on-site. There is even a beer and wine garden for all the adults to play in. Of course, you must be at least 21 years old with a valid ID in order to purchase or drink alcohol while at the Southern Maryland Artsfest. Please remember to drink responsibly as well. You don't want to ruin yours or anyone else's good time.

Bring the family and your friends to the Annmarie Sculpture Garden this weekend for the 2013 Southern Maryland Artsfest. Meet the artists in person and maybe even take home a piece to decorate your humble abode. It's a wonderful way to spend quality time with the family and instill a love of the arts in your wee ones.
