As with any big issue, many Winnetka residents have opinions on the proposed solutions to our stormwater problems. I have been reading about various ideas both in local newspapers and online - but now the Village of Winnetka is hosting two meetings on the subject.
Called "Special Stormwater Town Hall Meetings" the first will be Thursday, September 19 and the second on Monday, September 25, both starting at 6:30 pm. Both will be held at Matz Hall at the Winnetka Community House.
This issue concerns all Winnetka residents, not just the ones most closely affected by it. Large swaths of west Winnetka and Woodley Road have seen unprecedented flooding during the past several storms. My house does not flood but I don't want Winnetka to have a reputation as the place where basements floods and no one does anything about it. It will affect ALL our home values even if our homes are bone-dry.
