How funny, my daughter just told me I need to update.  She says it's so much better :).  I didn't even know about it.  

Craig,  Thanks for the info.  It looks like the new update is feature rich.  I am still having a problem with my music playing (silently) on my phone whenever i start my car.  It continues to run all day and drains my phone battery unless I remember to check it and shut it down.  This is a bug I am hoping they address with this update.  I went to the Apple store about a year ago and they said "Oh yes, we know about this and are working on fixing that bug".  I'll keep my fingers crossed. 

 

I read somewhere that some apps may not work on iOS7.  I look forward to reading your review.  It looks like there is a lot more to this than the new icons and layout.

Thanks so much for the heads up! I just checked out the site link and there are A LOT of changes! It will be interesting to see how the new software integrates with existing aps!

Too late!  Wish I would have read this before I impulsively downloaded the update.  So far, no problems.  However, not sure I like some of the changes, though.  Thanks for the video links ... just watched one and will certainly be watching the other as well!

Craig - I think I'll be waiting a little while before I do this update.

Hi Craig. I looked at the update yesterday and decided I don't have time to upgrade on my phone or iPad right now. If something went wrong, it could seriously impact my ability to funciton smoothly. Maybe I'll have time in a week or two. By then, maybe you'll have a review / opinion and some more good tips for us!

Thanks for the tip and the heads up - I think I'll wait a bit, too...I'm not always enamored with change. There is a lot of comfort knowing where everything is and how everything works!

Craig - Just downloaded the update and yes it is a bit tricky at first. Took about 45 minutes to install and reboot. Some older apps are still not working although you must once updating to IOS7, update your apps as well. And there are many believe me. Also seems like the App store is a bit overwhelmed in responding so there is a bit of a lag there. One disturbing thing I noticed was that since updating my battery seems to be draining quickly. Not sure if this is a setting I have missed but I am investigating it now.... Also the Auto lock on the IPad I'm not a fan of so far but I suppose it is good for those security issues in case you do happen to have it stolen or lost. The Find My Iphone app not sure of as I don't have one but the setting is on my IPad.... Will investigate that as well. Good luck everybody and have fun.

I took the plunge and all I can say is it  is about time for this upgrade...Long overdue and some of the apps/usage are nice

I let the software update last night while I slept. Not a fan three hours in :)

I think I'll procrastinate just a bit and take in all the tips/comments of others before I plunge in....

Craig, I can't update mine until I dump some stuff - mainly photos. I take way too many photos! lol

 

Backed up before I installed and so far no problems.

I did it and no problems!  It looks very different but I had a seemless update on both my iPad and iPhone. 

Haven't had a chance to play around with the new OS yet, but so far I haven't been impressed.  Its managed to resize my pictures and put them at terrible resolution without my permission.  Hopefully it is just a launch day bug.

Nothing is the same on my iphone since I did the update, and all my optional apps are gone.  I should have done the backup first.

Craig - I decided to wait a little while, as I've heard it makes a ton of changes,and there will probably be an update to the update after the bugs are worked out.

Sure wish I had seen this before I installed on my iPhone.  It made for an interesting afternoon!

I have been hesitant to upgrade for a couple of reasons. One I haven't had time to research the changes. Two I don't have time to LEARN the upgrade! Keep us informed as to how you are finding it.

I was anticipating this update, and once I looked at it, it just doesn't do that much for me. I like Apple products, and most of their updates I do without checking or looking much. This one, not so much and I can't fully grasp why.

Mostly too much hype and to me, almost a backwards look especially for the icons.

I think I will take a wait and see attitude for a week or two, Craig. Thanks for the great info.

I like it but my battery is running down much faster (on iPad 3). Is there a setting I can tweak?

After many years of Microsoft I have learned you don't update anything till its out there for awhile. No beta testing for me.

Thanks for the information.  I wished I had seen your post before I downloaded the new operating system.

Craig, I did not back up my IPhone before doing the update and it forced me to reset my phone back to factory settings. I had not backed my phone up since July so that was a big loss of data.

I wish I had read this post before installing the update.
