Sand Springs, OK Parks Department Needs Your Help
The Sand Springs OK parks department needs your help. If you like to volunteer in community projects and love the outdoors, now is the perfect time to get involved. The parks department is looking for a few good nature loves to assist with the “Get Dirty-Give Back” workshop. This workshop is a series of hands-on outdoor classes that will be held this fall to teach anyone interested the basic skills for trail building.
The workshops will be held at the Keystone Ancient Forest, which is the perfect place to learn trail building skills in the fall. The Sand Springs parks department is looking for around 30 volunteers who like to get their hands dirty and work hard. It will be a great time to share the positive vibe of working outdoors.
Groups will work together on creating a new trial at Keystone Ancient Forest that people can enjoy for years to come. You will learn about the layouts and designs of trial heads, vegetation management, natural steps in the terrain, slopes and turns through trail building. There will be a series of these workshops that will be on Saturday’s from now through the spring.
Keystone Ancient Forest Information
Enjoy over 1,3060 acres of fun at Keystone Ancient Forest. It is currently open for monthly hikes along the 3.5 miles of trails that are already finished. There will be a hike on Saturday, October 12, 2013. You can join in anytime between 8 am and 2 pm. No pets allowed though.
