I must be losing my sensitivity to earthquakes, no I don't think so.
So unknown to me, around 4:30 and 5:00 AM this morning there were approximately nine small quakes. Most of them were rated under 2.0 magnitude.
The first one was a 3.7-magnitude shaker centered a mile from La Verne. According to the USGS, the epicenter was a mile from San Dimas, California, two miles from Pomona and three miles from Diamond Bar. It was followed by a temblor measuring 3.8.
It is again time to get Prepared!
Here is what you need, according to the U.S. Geological Survey
Fire extinguisher
Adequate supplies of medications that you or family members are taking
Crescent and pipe wrenches to turn off gas and water supplies
First-aid kit and handbook
Flashlights with extra bulbs and batteries
Portable radio with extra batteries
Water for each family member for at least two weeks (allow at least 1 gallon per person per day) and purification tablets or chlorine bleach to purify drinking water from other sources
Canned and package foods, enough for several days and MECHANICAL can opener. Extra food for pets if necessary
Camp stove or barbecue to cook on outdoors (store fuel out of the reach of children)
Waterproof, heavy-duty plastic bags for waste disposal
Used to live in California. Was there for a 6.5. Was enough to get me to move out of state. Guess I will take hurricanes anytime. You know if they are coming.

I've lived through some big ones in Alaska. They are unnerving...being prepared is pretty critical for survival. I always know a few seconds before one hits - unless they are really small and I'm sleeping. ( It sounds like that was the case for you too).
Here in Chicago Land we have horrible cold weather but no hurricanes. I bet it is very scary. Also another interesting thing is that Lake Michigan is such a huge body or water and so powerful that there are almost never ever a tornado. They get swept out in the lake. The news often shows water swirls out in the lake but near the shore there has not been one since the 50's.
