That's a nice contrast!  I am seeing it more and more, although I am not a fan of hardwood in the kitchen.

And the smoke detector in that second photo is in the WROOOONG place!

That's quite a contrast in color. I like it. I bet this is a very popular style and colors for buyers today.

Have a good day in New York.

I love dark hardwood flooring in a kitchen but I must say, I have special walnut in mine and it's a mid tone that hides the dirt much better than dark or light!

As long as you balance the dark flooring off with the lighter cabinets, it can look quite stunning as your pictures illustrate.

A great pairing if you ask me . . . dark wood floor and white cabinets, etc.  I was drooling a little at Home Depot today thinking about how I'm going to give my little rental a freshen up . . . in a couple of years.  In 2015 I will have owned it for 20 years.  MY how time flies.  I'm I'm thinking of some fun things to do in a couple of years!!

When I remodeled my kitchen in 2008, I went for a timeless look, especially since I have an older home built in the 40s. I chose antique cream with a distressed finish for the cabinets and a dark (it's called Lava) Marmoleum. The cabinets are not too white to show dirt and the floor is dark enough to hide it, LOL.

Beautiful and very popular here.  In fact, aren't dark floors becoming more popular in general?  Many buyers want to hire floor refinishers before they move in to darken the floors.

This is interesting and timely information.  For one reason or another, I've always been attached to Dark Walnut finishes.  I have several furniture pieces with that stain.  I've also kept my white walls, while others went to color.  I've chosen instead to put the color in upholstry (usually flowered), or brightly colored.  The look presented in your picture, is very attractive.

My last kitchen was cherry cabinets. This house we went with white, and we get a lot of compliments. I see white cabinets more and more, and it looks clean, which is always nice in a kitchen.

My floors are not dark, but dark makes for high contrast which many people like. My entire home is hardwood except the bathrooms and kitchen, so we just didnt need anther room of hardwood. If i was building new ior remodelling under different circumstances, i think the dark floors are beautiful.
