There are alot of folks calling for a government shutdown in order to de-fund the Affordable Health-care Act (ACA), also known as ObamaCare. But what would happen during a government shutdown? Well , for one the housing recovery would experience a slowdown. During a shutdown, the Federal Housing Administration, “which insures and guarantees a large number of single-family mortgages and even more rental and multifamily properties,” would cease operations, blocking home loan and insurance applications. Not good for us in the Real Estate Business.
So, for everyone out there demanding that House Republicans shut down the government to de-fund ObamaCare, you need to know that it (de-funding the ACA) WILL NOT happen. Please read this snipit of an op-ed from Peter Wehner:
"The choice is not, and never has been, between those willing to de-fund ObamaCare and those willing to fund it. That supposed choice is in fact an illusion. To de-fund the ACA would require the House and Senate to pass new legislation, which Barack Obama would have to sign. And no one, not even Senators Cruz, Paul, Lee and Rubio, believes the president would do that.
All the posturing...is nothing more than political theater."
Is hurting the economy, including the housing recovery really worth it considering the desired results from so-called conservatives in The House, can never be achieved?
