Moving to Atlanta? Why Not Consider Buford!
In moving to the Atlanta area, there are a lot of things to consider in selecting the right place to call home. There are so many more things to consider than just the four walls you will surround yourself with and what they will cost! Living is about quality of life, having a sense of community, and enjoying your spare time with those you care about, hopefully in a place that fits you! Establishing yourself in a place to only find it's NOT at all what you thought is a huge nightmare!
Lifestyle?
If you are looking for urban chic Bohemia, Buford is too far and won't have the eclectic feel you are looking for, try "Little Five-Points." However, if you want to be outside the bustle of an endless sea of people, enjoy your off time at One of the Largest Manmade Lakes in the country, enjoy Rich History, great Dining, a fabulous selection of local Shopping, as well as a great place to raise a family, Buford may be for you!
Location, Location, Location!
It's the number one rule in real estate for a reason, too far out, and commuting is going to take all of your spare time, and take monstorous bites out of your wallet, but too close in and crime, school quality and conjestion an be a problem. Located only 39 miles from the center point of Atlanta, you can easily commute to the heart of down town in 45 minutes if you are careful with traffic patterns! Yet Weekend Mountain Retreats Are Under an Hour Away! Sometimes though, you can't wait for the weekend, and you need to blow off a little steam, which makes Buford, Georgia the PERFECT location because of Lake Lanier! In a little over 5 minutes you can be sitting on the white sandy beaches listening to live music or shooting down a water slide at Lake Lanier Islands Resort! When summer comes, the beaches of Tybee Island and Historic Savannah, Georgia is only four and a half hours away!
Schools!
Consistently rated among the best schools in the state, Buford City Schools have consistently been ranked among the finest in academics, performing arts and athletics! Other excellent schools within the area that are highly ranked include North Gwinnett High School and Millcreek High School.
Home Quality and Affordability
Buford is much more affordable than other areas of Atlanta that have similar quality schools and proximity to work and shopping. While there are many luxury homes, lake homes, and executive homes in the $300,000-$3,000,000 range, Buford also has affordable entry level homes for first time home buyers as well as move up homes for those looking for a little more space. Please contact me at 404-718-9126 if you would like more information on homes available in the Buford area.
Traffic, Congestion, and Proximity to Work
Buford is ideally located off of I-985 only 4 miles North of where I-85 intersects to take you to Atlanta. Additionally, GA 20 allows a second option of driving to GA 400 for days when I-85 is backed up. Buford is an easy commute to the Northern portions of Atlanta through either of these cooridoors, but lacks the conjestion of other cities.
Dining Establishments
The Historic Buford Square offers a wide array of Dining Options including fine dining at Aqua Terra Bistro, or enjoy the duelling pianos at Adam's Restaurant and Piano Bar or my favorite casual dining spot Rico's World Kitchen! (I am a little biased, because Rico and I went to Buford High School together). For Seafood visit my friend and regionally renowned chef Rock at Coastal Breeze! There are also dozens of nationally recognized chains by the Mall of Georgia a few minutes away!
Shopping
Buford is so close to outstanding shopping. The Historic Downtown Buford Square has art shops, and some other really neat ecclectic shops, but the Mall of Georgia is perhaps the second largest mall in America and features a who's who list of anchors including: Belk, Nordstrom, Dillard's, J.C. Penny, Macy's and more! Also, The Sugarloaf Mills is another huge shoppers paradise with over 180 stores and entertainment options. Outdoors Enthusiasts will appreciate Bass Pro Shops Megastore only a few minutes away in Lawrenceville!
Recreation
As if Lake Lanier Islands, mountain trips and all of the shopping wasn't enough, Buford is also a great place to watch the Atlanta Braves AAA affiliate Gwinnett Braves! There are many movie theaters in the Buford area, and many parks. My favorite Park is West Bank Park right by the Buford Dam, but Old Federal is also a great place to go boating or camping! Hiking on the Appalachian Trail is also about an hour away! Then there is Amicalola Waterfalls and all of Georgia's great state parks! Stone Mountain Park perhaps my favorite!
The Arts
Buford has award winning high school theater and choral programs, but you are only an hour away from one of the premeir Broadway shows in the country at the Fabulous Fox Theater in Atlanta, and the Atlanta Symphony has tremendous offerings! Buford also has very nice Art Galleries
Museums
Buford has a very proud history, having once been the "Leather Capitol of the World" and having boasted it's own semi-pro baseball team. It's the town that Bona Allen built, and it has it's own History Museum, yet it isn't that far from the High Museum of Art in Atlanta!
