Paint it Sold!

Home Builder with Whitaker Painting, LLC

What is the #1 best thing you can do to sell your house faster?  Paint, paint, and more paint!  Repainting your home can produce dramatic results.  It can transform an ordinary looking house into a fabulous, new home to a potential buyer.

The greater Seattle area has a lot of inventory on the market and makes for picky buyers.  What is going to make your house stand out from the rest?  Is it going to be the 80's shade of blue paired with the monochromatic, turquoise shutters?  Probably not.  Or perhaps your home has a more appropriate color choice, but the condition of the paint is less than desirable?  Is it peeling, fading, cracking, or have an overall dirty appearance?  This too, is a problem for buyers.  Updating the look of your home with a new color or freshening up the existing color boosts the curb appeal and peaks buyer's interest.  Getting them to the door is half the battle.

Now that we've got them inside, what happens as they walk in the door?  Are they greeted with outdated popcorn ceiling, walls with fingerprints, dents, and scratches?  What about the color choices?  Are they warm and welcoming or loud and confusing?  Potential buyers will notice the imperfections in the walls and ceilings and will often think of two things…extra work and poor maintenance.  You can eliminate this doubt in their minds by getting rid of popcorn ceilings.  Repairing and repainting the walls in a warm, neutral color creates a clean, well-maintained looking surface. This gives the buyer a sense of calm and comfort when walking through the spaces in your home.

Also, be careful about using white.  Too much white can be boring, stark, and give a home an industrial or commercial feel.  Plus, so many real estate agents mistakenly advise painting everything white.  Now, after a potential homebuyer has spent all day with their real estate agent looking from house to house, your house blends in with everyone else.  Finding the right combination of shades and possible accent walls is important.  We can help in your color decision!

At Whitaker Painting we specialize in residential repaints.  (This is very different from the type of painting found in the new construction industry, where quality is often sacrificed and the “blow and go” technique is employed.)  We can also take care of that popcorn ceiling problem.  We hire only the best painters who are experts in their craft. Give us a call to schedule a free estimate (425) 830-5738.  We’d love to paint your home beautiful and paint it sold!

Paint is your friend.

I tell that to every seller I meet.  It equates to someting like a 700% return.  Everything looks fresh and new.  You can't beat paint.
