The Summit at Rivery Park

According to the City of Georgetown (Jan '08), The Summit at Rivery Park is in the zoning stage. Ground breaking and construction may begin as early as this summer.

The Summit development plans contain an eight- to ten-story hotel (320-420 rooms), conference center (accommodating 1500-2500 people), a six-story office tower, 2 upscale restaurants, four office condominiums, and parking garages.

The development is designed to keep the buildings' footprints as small and unobtrusive as possible. Building up, instead of out, will help to minimize the impact on the beautiful area along the North Fork and will keep urban "sprawl" at a minimum as well. Current zoning limits only allow a 45-foot vertical height, but an application to address this situation should be coming from the developers soon, if it hasn't already been been filed.

Renderings of the project were unveiled to the city in June by the LedgeStone Group

Thanks for another great comment JK!

I'm very excited about this project too. Georgetown is definately becoming a destination spot in Central Texas. It is a great time to be a Georgetown resident and it will be extremely interesting to watch it grow!

Duke's has great outdoor seating and their BBQ is good too! Unfortunately they no longer have live music, but it's still a great venue for private/company parties. It's also great for family dining - the kids will love it. If you love BBQ, try the Smoke Haus in Bertram. It takes about a half hour from Georgetown, but is definately worth the trip!!

My experience with the fish restaurant supports your comment. My partner is an Army pilot and so is a good friend and neighbor of ours. When we went their for lunch, they were refused a beer because apparently they do not accept federal military IDs (only TX IDs are acceptable to them). So, we have not returned. I figure that if military personnel, who have served in Iraq, can't have a beer when their home, something is fishy (pun intended). Sorry about the tangent, but I think their policy is misguided.
