As a horse owner myself, listing and selling equestrian properties is a natural for me. The past three years have been REALLY slow in the land, equestrian ranch business. Being in business for 13 years here in the Palm Springs Valley, the slow years helped me increase my Residential business in all the desert Cities! Great any way you look at it.
This summer however, was indicative of what our more rural areas of my Valley are doing with regards to land and equestrian properties. We had several strong equestrian sales over the summer. Price/acre ranged from $30,000/acre to about $100,000/acre. Remember that it wasn't too long ago that finished lots were selling for $13,000/acre to builders who were just stickin that land into their Land Banks and sitting on them.
Merv Griffin's horse ranch on 54th in Thermal sold for approx. 7.2 million. It is currently listed for lease at $22,000/mo.
