20 Things You Should Not Do After The Age of 50.

Now, I am not saying the age of 50 makes you old.  There are some very beautiful women who you would never guess they were 50.  Men are generally the at their handsomest at this age.  So, this should be the age to say, “I am old enough to know better!”  I personally think the 50’s are probably the start of the best years of your life!  But let’s set some rules:

1.      Do not go to a nude beach.  I have found the only people who go to nude beaches are the ones we don’t want to see nude...especially over the age of 50.

2.      Body shots or ANY game involving alcohol.

3.      Throw away those 4-5 inch high heels.  You are going to have enough trouble with your feet from now on, don’t aggravate it.  You need to walk more to stay in shape, so get some shoes you can’t fall off of.   You are still too young to start breaking a hip or an ankle.

4.      Thong anything-underwear, swimsuits.  HIS AND HERS!  I have photo proof. Don’t do it!

5.      Rollerskate.  This one way to break about every bone somewhere. Just say NO!  Let’s just say no to all X-treme Sports.  But stay active with a sport you love, or find a new one.

6.      Don’t settle.  Life is far from over!  If someone or something doesn't measure up, don't settle for less than what you want.

7.      Don't share personal information. Although this is true at any age, you are starting the age when you can be taken advantage of.  Get a second opinion before you give money to anyone or anything.

8.      Refrain from using internet or teenage slang.  We don’t want to hear mom say something is “sick”.  Is it sick, or really awesome?  Be specific.  I do get a chuckle when I hear grandpa’s refer to someone as a “Freakin Hottie”.

9.      Rethink the facelift.  Chances are you really don’t need it. You earned every wrinkle and smile line. Wait until something really falls and can’t get back up.  Nothing worse than looking like you had something done!  Grandma’s should not look like they have duck lips.  A little goes a long way.

10.  Don’t expect to find a job quickly after 50.  These days younger folks are hiring, and they think once you have turned 50 you have lost all sense of everything.  Little do they know!   We don’t have little children that get sick, or other things that children can take you away from a job for. We know how to tell time, count change, we can and read and write, and we have manners. Something today’s generation has lost the ability for. Life lessons cannot be found in high school or college.

11.  Ladies, do not go bra-less in public for any reason.  Spaghetti straps are not a good look now.

12.  Men, it is a well-known fact, the older you get the higher the pants set on your waist.  So look in the mirror before you leave home.

13.  Do not wear something that is not age appropriate. “Short” anything and “varicose” do not go together.

14.  Believe that either the political left or right are the only way to save the country and that the other side is a threat.

15.  Don’t expect than you are going to get life insurance at a reasonable rate.

16.  Don’t be afraid to say NO!  You are not a built in baby sitter for your children. If you don’t want to do it, don’t do it.

17.  Start now to adjust your lifestyle. Never depend on both spouses income to make it.  I see a lot of divorced and widowed folks lose things they have worked their whole lives for because Social Security can’t even pay the taxes on what they acquired.

18.  Don’t slow down. If you don’t use it, you will lose it!  Stay active, travel, exercise, walk.

19.  Don’t give your grandchildren everything they want.  They need to know how to save for something, and sometimes the word “no”…just prepares them for life.

20.  Glamour shots.  Let’s face it…No one wants to see grandma with big hair and more makeup than she normally wears.  Let’s include boudoir shots too.  Kids and grandkids, and even your friends, just don’t want to see that.

Yeah, I totally agree with these.  While I think it's important to remain young mentally (stay sharp, engaged, etc) there's no need to act like it.

Never been to a nude beach, but several of my friends said that the vast majority of nude sunbathers were men well past 60!

Great post!  I love every bit of it.  And so true too. I need to go check my pants line and do a little readjusting.
