Artists from all over the United States will descend on Sedona in mid October. These thirty artists, invite only, are the best of the best. They are coming to one of nature's most beautiful places to paint. Live. As nature unfolds. These artists pay their respects to the great French impressionists who believed you should trust your eyes to the beauty that surrounds you. The contemparary artists paint in the great outdoors ( en plein air ). Painting just as it is. Capturing the ever changing light as shadows grow and deepen as the day moves along, colors change from pastel to dark and oily. Humidity, temperature, and the shifting wind, light and shadows challenge the artist to capture the feeling, the moment held against his/her canvas. The art form requires stamina and endurance as the artist must face whatever Mother Nature throws at them. Time is not on their side. They must complete their work in a set amount of time. In addition there will be workshops, receptions, and exhibitions.
