Caring for the elderly is a big topic to try and cover in a blog so today we are going to simply stick with nursing home facilities in Highlands Ranch. The differences between Medicare, Medicaid, private pay, long term care, assisted living and skilled nursing care are too broad.  Maybe a ten-part series might cover it.  However, the purpose of today's post is to identify nursing home facilities in Highlands Ranch and also provide some resources to research this issue in Colorado.

STATE RESOURCES

The State of Colorado, like most other states, has a website that covers Health Care.  You can access information about the programs and benefits available by going to The Department of Health Care Policy & Financing.  Once on their website, you can narrow down your search more specifically to issues like Medicaid, Long term care, etc.  You can also try to call the Medicaid Customer Service number at 1-800-221-3943.  However, when I called on a Tuesday morning, it was a 15 minute wait to speak with a representative.

Windcrest Nursing Home Facility in Highlands RanchAs for finding facilities, there are two good options. First, you can go to Medicare.gov and use their Nursing Home Compare search feature.  This allows you to search by city, state and/or zip and also provides ratings of the facilities.  Second, you can go to Colorado's Health Facility Directory for nursing homes and search by city or county, in addition to searching by the method of accepted payment.

HIGHLANDS RANCH FACILITIES

Nursing home facilities in Highlands Ranch that offer private pay assisted living are Vi Living, Wind Crest, and Clare Bridge.  Vi also offers skilled nursing care but does not accept Medicaid.  Not surprisingly, there are no nursing home facilities in Highlands Ranch that accept medicaid patients. According to Medicare.gov, the closest facilities are 19-25 miles away from Highlands Ranch in Denver, Lakewood and Westminster, Colorado.

Using the above resources, you should be able to search the entire State of Colorado for the type of facility that you need.  There are just not a lot of options if you are looking for nursing home facilities in Highlands Ranch. However, the three options mentioned above are excellent facilities based on their ratings.
